SECCO products combine quality, distinguishable and simple design and funky materials. They are designed to last .

Car tyre inner tubes are turned into handbags, washing machine drums into stylish bowls, computer and type-writer keys into magnets and keyrings, etc. The ideas are born through the qualities of the used material and design.

Part of the production as well as product development activities are situated in SECCO´s own workshop in Petäjävesi, where also SECCO´s headquarter can be found. Another part of the production is carried out in co-operation with suitable, local and international partner companies. They are chosen and act according to SECCO´s needs and quality criteria. A biggest part of the products is manufactured by hand.

SECCO products are:

* of high quality in design and functionality
* designed to be produced in a sustainable way
* inspiring the user
* aesthetic and time-less

Recycled bottle cascade chandelier

When we spotted Michelle Brand’s gorgeous Cascade Chandelier at HauteGREEN this year, we were drawn to the beautiful design like eco-minded moths around a CFL bulb. When we took a closer look and realized that each of the transparent “flowers” in the cascade was actually just the bottom of a plastic drink bottle, we were surprised and impressed. We never imagined that something so simple, cheap and ordinary such as empty water bottles could be turned into a such a stunning and elegant piece of interior design.

Volksware Clothing Carpet

Next time you’re making a trip to the Salvation Army to donate those old clothes, consider Silke Wawro of Volksware’s alternative approach: her scrap clothing carpet is literally a fabric journal, made from “the cloth consumption of a persons’ lifetime.” The carpet is sold by the meter, off a roll, so you can order just enough and have cozy clothing keeping your toes warm in no time.

Nomad Modular Cardboard Screens

Proving once again that cardboard is truly a green super-material, the Nomad Screen system by MIO takes recycled double-wall cardboard modules and transforms them into an endlessly-customizable architectural system. Designed by Jaime Salm and Roger Allen of sustainability focused design company MIO, Nomad was one of our favorite items at this year’s ICFF, and can be assembled into free-standing, sculptural screens, temporary partitions, rooms or even displays, without hardware, tools or damage to existing structures. A wonderfully simplistic solution to recycling materials.
