i like her newest stuff (i guess the stuff at the top and middle of the page of paintings) more than her older stuff...the colors and simple shapes and lines really appeal to me.

Thanks so much for these .francesca! :flower:

I love the somber and sometimes sinister undertones that seem so unexpected or out of place in her style of drawing.

They look simple but are really so complex and that's great.

the first one is amazing:heart: i still have to look at her site, thanks for the thread francesca. reminds me a bit of nara.... there's something underneath the calmness seems to be an illusion. this has become very much a trend in art and illustration, no? i prefer the subtlety very much to mark ryden, for example, whom i always perceive as a bit 'cheap' (he'd probably like that, but i don't:p)
chrissyM, i like your discription, too! (where have you been, i miss you in the photographer's section:flower:)

anna karina! :flower: I haven't checked the photographer section in sooo long, and I have no idea why! I'm gonna do that when I get back from class . . . I'm really excited to see what I've been missing :woot:

She draws those little girls as Eurasians.. typical.

I love the first two images, possibly because the colors have a vintage look. But it's also the silence which Anna pointed out. Very nice.

Lovely topic! I had discovered her through the http://www.burningbrush.com art auction website (with themes such as: myths & legends, childhood memories- which I love...) but remembered her style to be more cartoonish also…These are beautiful ~ they still have a storybook quality but much more subtle  Thanks for posting :flower:

everyone is welcome! here are some more images, with a slightly more painterly quality, rather than cartoony.

i love the pictures that take place on the metro. her colors and style here remind me of diego rivera...not the subject matter by any means, just the colors...earthy and the textures...you can tell the canvas, which i love.

i know what you mean about diego rivera, i think. only i find his work (sorry big man!) lacks the 'layers', is less suggestive?
the ones you just posted are beautiful, too.
thanks for the link nr9dream, unfortunately they say they#ll no longer update it.
