thx cowboyboots...:flower:

your own sewing machine is exciting...i hand sewed that vest because i'm still not comfortable on the machine...i really should get it out and practice more...
i know it's not that hard...but i hate changing the thread and bobbin...

SOFTIE.. that is gorg!!!

Any tips to begin sewing?

That Galliano jacket on the site is breathtaking!

OMG!!! How did I miss THAT vest. Soft, it's gorgeous. It is almost exactly what I was envisioning when you and I talked about it before. What did we say, "Tess meets Dries for tea in the garden". It's perfect. Great work! We are going to have some awesome craft nites next year!!!
I think it's funny that you have the patience to hand sew, but not to use the machine. I'm exactly opposite. I even sew buttons on with my machine.

Cowboyboots-have fun with your new machine!

Pointup-check out your local fabric shops to see if they offer any sewing classes. You could even take a class through a community college as continuing education. Most machines come with video tutorials these days. Once you understand how to use the machine you can use the "very easy" patterns to learn basic construction and eventually you'll become more comfortable.

thanks pointup..
and thanks chris...tess meets dries is a huge compliment...

i just keep it really simple so it's not very intimidating...
i would love to try that yohji jkt...i downloaded the pattern...
will have to attempt that next yr...

chris...i'm really looking forward to having someone to be creative with and bounce ideas off of...i love your ideas...

i can hand sew to save my life im so bad at it and it always turns out messy. i love sewing machines makes it so much easier. i dont mind changing the thread and bobbin i could probely do it with my eyes closed if i tried!:p

the sewing machine i have is a computerised one so its easier, bit of a cheat really! but it has alot of beautiful stitches on it. can wait until my b/day although my mam let me have a bit of ago on it before she hid it. and i'l be gettin a digital camera so i'l probs end up posting loads pictures instead of trying to describe the things i'v made!

I have a new sewing machine i got it for christmas!! I have been sewing since i was 12 I started because I had all these amazing ideas for clothes in my head but i could never see anything which lived up to it in shops so i desided to make it. Im quite a artsey crafty person anyways so i like that type of thing.

he he he they dont work for me either damn technology im gonna try and fix it! dont know quite how but i'l try promise:flower:

To take my mind off things I'm going to try and make a shirt-dress out of an XXL Polo Ralph Lauren shirt I got for free. My girlfriend 's a polka-dot and bow-a-holic so there will be much over-liberal use of said bows and polka-dots.

Can some one recomend a good sewing machine for under $200?

the original photos worked for me-just had to wait a minute. anyway, very cute cowboy boots!!! and poc, let us know how the dress goes. it sounds like it could be very viktor and rolf.
