Cleva clogs lol. Im considering doing textiles next year for as levels myself but it depends what sixth from i goto !!

A level textiles is great at AS we got to do loads of little projects and got to make alot of garments and products.

and at A level you get to create your own brief so you can make pretty much whatever you like!

i have actually really enjoyed textiles over the past two years and it really helps when you have a great enthusiastic teacher:flower:

i'm finally taking a cheap sewing class!
my mom used to make all my clothes and continues to sew almost everything
and i being a bratty impatient and anti-social child never let her teach me
and i regret it immensely!
i'm ok at handstitching, but i want to learn to sew
i have so many ideas but no way to actually fabricate them,
no pun intended.

:)

when i get some stuff done, i'll post it..
i have a ton of designs for skirts for summer!

so...finally taking a sewing class..i start on monday! i coerced like, 6 of my friends to take it with me so we have enough people to make a class...i hope they don't regret it! anyway, i have a billion things designed and i'll post them all here when i have some done. i'm so excited!

just thought i would share this. this is my A-level coursework that i produced. i actually finished it ages ago!

its a double layer 1920's inspired dress. the slip underneath is a emerald/sea green satin the upper dress is scalloped lace with small leaves embroided all over it. it has a deep v neck and fastens up the front with poppers. it has a drop waist with a bias cut skirt.

i am also going to be wearing it to my summer ball^_^
:woot:
so lovely...:flower:...

alright francesca...
so when we have questions we can come to you... ;)

Creating timeline

Hi everyone! I was wondering if it was very hard to sew with formal training? People tell me that it is very difficult, yet I see designers getting collections together really well and I was also wondering at the same time how long does it take for such creative pieces to be made. (Something such that as shown in the picture)

If you are patient and get a good book on basic sewing and start with a basic pattern you can probably teach yourself to sew, but you will probably learn faster and better if a sewer teaches you. One thing about fashion designers is that most of them never sew. A couture outfit can take months to make.

JJohnson: if u know how to make a good pattern it won t take u long, same thing for sewing it. but it does seem like there s different pieces (am not too sure) so u have to be careful to get them right and for the bow on the hip and the flower on the shoulders those 2 pieces will have to be made separately obviously then sewn to the rest of the garment. imo, those r the only pieces u might have trouble with, but overall it s not too hard to make. so good luck to u and show us the result if u do make it.:flower:

Anna Karina::woot: Thank you so much for posting the show studio link! I'm going to get fabric for it this weekend!

you're very welcome! do post your result, will you:heart:
i guess i'm going to try it myself but i am so poor at sewing:(

I will, I also made the Alezander McQueen jacket, and said I would post a pic, but my digi cam is not working at the moment so... but I want post the pics on the show studio website also.

Cool

Thanks a lot you guys. I really did not plan on sewing that garment, but I want to go to fashion school for that. I do not know how to sew, but I am going to learn and I also want to be a couturer. I wonder if Parsons School of Design will accept me? Must one know how to sew and make professional garments already to be able to come there?

Has anyone tried to print the showstudio pattern. I downloded it and cant get it to print out correctly.

arent there instructions that come with the download?

i have a pattern offline with 4 attachments two used for A4 printing and the other for specialised printing where you can take it to a certain printers and get it done for you!? unless i have a different pattern from a different website!

anyways hopes that is some sort of a help:flower:

No, same pattern. I was just trying to print it off my home printer. The directions don't corespond with what comes up when I tell it to print. So 1 attachment prints the size of the paper so its only like barbie size. I know I need to tile it but cant figure out how to do it. I printed of pattens before and it work, but I just got a new computer so everthing is different. Maybe i will jusst go to Kinkos and hope it doesn't cost much to have them print it.
