Shu Uemura Skincare

I got a sample of the Cleansing Beauty Oil Premium A/I... I don't really like it. I think it is very mediocre compared to the other cleansing oils. It took two gos to remove my waterproof makeup, and even after the second go there were still bits of mascara hanging here and there. (It usually takes one go with my Balancing Cleansing Oil Fresh.) It also seems to leave a layer of almost thick grease on your face afterwards... Ew. What a disappointment - the packaging really is gorgeous.

Oh great. I havent used any of the oil cleansers yet but I hope I dont get the same feeling from the A/I as you...then, I'm not removing any makeup though.

^I hope so too. What other samples did you receive? What color were the bottles? If you got a pink one, you're in luck :D

I didnt see the bottles while samples were being made, but I told the SA I had sensitive skin, and she said, 'Oh I know which one I'll make for you' and then she just put an 'S' on the bottom of the sample....

^What! That's strange... If you actually decide to purchase the product, I don't think the SA will even remember what she gave you!

 You're funny. I wasnt really paying attention to her, I was talking to another SA who was a friend of the friend I was with, so us 3 had wandered over to the Shu Uemura counter so that the SA we were with could have that girl make me the samples....but is there one oil that is specifically for sensitive skin?

If I do like it, I wont even go back to that store, I was visiting somewhere for Christmas. ^_^

^The A/I is the only oil on the website listed for sensitive skin. Some of the oils are "suitable for all skin types" - so she might have given you one of those? I demand you try the oils tonight :judge:

Well I did earlier today use the oil with the 'S' on bottom, and I dont like it, after applying some water to emulsify it just clung to my face, very hard to rinse off. :yuk:
I like Dermalogica PreCleanse better.

^My cleansing oil doesn't cling. So odd. There shouldn't be that much of a difference since the main ingredients in the cleansing oils are the same?

I do know that the water in my area has a lot of calcium, which for some odd reason makes it harder for things to lather (shampoo, hand soap, detergent, you name it). Maybe it makes things easier to remove? It actually drives me crazy :ninja:

I agree, I never had problems rinsing their cleansing oils off.

I'll give the A/I one a try tonight to remove my Natura Bisse sunscreen. I hope it is nicely removable and not hard to remove. Do you rinse or do you dampen a clean cloth with tepid water, remove, then begin your second cleanse? I always do a second cleanse at night, tonight I'll cleanse with my Natura Bisse The Cure cleanser.

I only do one cleanse a day, and it's at night; unless I've been exposed to some extreme elements throughout the day, like smoke, dust, and cooking oil. Maybe it's the sunscreen that's making it difficult to remove the cleansing oil? Although, the sunscreen would have been absorbed by night time, no?

A cleansing oil should be removing sunscreen. That is the only time I use a cleansing oil, at night, to remove sunscreen, and that cleanse is pretty much only cleansing off the top layer of what has collected upon the skin throughout the day, which is sunscreen, pollutants, dust (I have horses so I'm exposed to dusty barns, hay and bark shavings which can fly up into your face and windy conditions) and what I've just mentioned. So the second cleanse is doing a more thorough cleansing of my skin, which I like.

Anyway I've used Natura Bisse sunscreen for years and Dermalogica PreCleanse always got it off.

Weirdly enough, some of the cleansing oils are quite different  Just a breakdown for people considering purchasing the oils...

The cleansing beauty oil premium a/o (green bottle) is thick in texture, but it removes every single trace of makeup in one go. It doesn't leave any film, and it actually leaves your face feeling a bit soft :D

The cleansing beauty oil premium a/i (white/yellow bottle) is even thicker in texture, but it sucks at removing waterproof makeup and it leaves a greasy film on your face.

The Brightening Cleansing Oil (blue bottle) is moderate-light in texture, great at removing makeup (not as good as the a/o though) and lathers the best, IMO. No film on the face afterwards either. It does leave me face feeling a bit dry afterwards, but I don't really mind.

The Balancing Cleansing Oil Fresh (Pink bottle) is similar to the brightening cleansing oil, just much lighter in texture. In terms of makeup removing power, they're both the same...

For one who doesn't wear make-up, is the pink bottle good enough or should I go with the green bottle?

^Pink bottle, just because it's very aesthetically pleasing! :P It does remove makeup very well too, just in case you decide to wear makeup on some special occasion.

Yeah I was drawn more to the pink one, it's so pretty and clean. It would look great in my bathroom cabinet

Should I use a 'normal' cleanser afterwards or will this cleanser be enough?

^Oh, we are suckers for packaging

This cleanser should be enough! I like to use a cleansing milk afterwards though, just because it leaves my skin softer and less dry. My skin is extra dry, and it doesn't help that oil cleansers always dry up my skin. :(

I have the purple one, and it looks FIERCE on my bathroom shelf!
