Couldn’t find any thread similar to this so posting a new one.

What according to you would be the appropriate size and length to make the samples in to be shown to the buyers for getting the orders?
Also what is the difference in sizes in U.S. and U.K.
And is this the correct size chart for reference?

Size 6 Bust- 341/2 waist 251/2 hips 351/2
Size 8 B 351/2 W 261/2 H 361/2
Size 10 B 361/2 W 271/2 H 371/2
Size 12 B 38 W 29 H 39


And lastly what exactly would be the shoulder size for size 10?
Would highly appreciate any help. Thanx

unless you plan to show in catwalk or on uber thin girls..
i'd say go for size 36 (86-63-92)
it proves useful since it will be fitting clients who may try something on during your showroom, without making them feel they need to squeeze in (psychological factors count) .

sizing for America

I'm a technical designer in NYC, and the standard size for Missy garments is an "8" for wovens, and a "Medium" for sweaters and knits. Missy Fit models are usually size "8". For sweaters, the average/basic Shoulder Width is 14 1/2" for size "8", and would grade up to 15 1/2" for size "10". Here is the basic size "M" sweater spec for a 12Gauge Jersey sweater (this is just an extremely generic, basic sweater, it will change depending on stitch/fiber content
Shoulder Width: 14"
Chest Width (measured Flat 16"
Waist Width (measured Flat 15"
Bottom Opening (measured Flat 16 1/2"
Body Length from HPS(High Point of Shoulder 24"
Sleeve Length from CB (Center Back 31 1/2"

it depends on the company and the line..
if it is runway- it is usually made to fit thegirl who wears it -so it is whatever her size is..

if it is sportswear samples-it varies
ie- denim...usually a 26/27
but generally it's a size 4 for most things...amrican sizing...

Every company I've worked at uses a sample size of "Medium" for knits & sweaters and a size "8" for wovens. Most fit models are size "8". For Plus sizes, most sample sizes are "2X" for knits, "18/20W" for wovens. I've never worked in the "designer" market, but I do know they go a little smaller. American sizing.

correct..
if you plan to give out your samples for photo shoots, give it a try for a show or a fashion installation, try maybe a 6 so it can fit well on models.

always try your final fitting on a model (if you can afford this)

By "sample shop" do you mean "sample makers" that manufacture prototype garments or do you mean places that sell designer samples (kind of like consignment shops but the clothes are new, or showrooms that sell a variety of designer lines)?
