Slumdog Millionaire

I thought this movie was amazing. Everyone did a great job, I really liked Dev Patel. The cinematography was beautiful, so was the soundtrack. My favorite song was Jai Ho, I hope it gets the Oscar.

Roisin, I highly doubt Salim raped Latika. She was a virgin and there it was valued at all costs so what I got from the movie was he gave her to the gangster guy as a gift. A head mobster would not touch a non-virgin, and he most likely I thought he was going to sell her virgnity for big bucks, but we see he keeps her for himself. If she lost her virgnity at all in the movie, it was to the mob guy. I'm forgetting his name.

Okay, that could makes sense. But still, I don't understand why Salim urgently felt the need to kick Jamal out of the room at that moment. And why Latika would have to tell Jamal that it was okay? Then they closed the door behind them, if he was going to give her to the gangster then he could have just waited until later,or just left at that moment. You know what I mean? That whole scene played like there was something else going on, but I would feel a lot better if what you say is true. I probably need to watch it again.

I really liked Dev Patel, too. He's really adorable and charming.

sounds confusing... they surely have some mistakes in the plot
like here *spoiler* when Jamal is at the police station and telling the policemen how Salim kicked him out. The policemen asked if he saw Latika and Salim again after that, and Jamal answers "If I did, I wouldn't be here with you"
And then some minutes later he starts telling how he found Salim via telephone numbers database at the telephone company...

Slumdog Millionaire, won the favorite audience movie award at the International Film Festival in Rotterdam! it's the biggest film-festival in Holland.

I saw it yesterday and love it! A lot of indians are put off my the idea of a foreigner exposing the underbelly of bombay and all the poverty and slums etc. Its like WE can show that stuff if we want, but when it comes from a foreigner its hurtful. Plus ppl who live in slums REALLY dont like the title slumdog. even if you watched the english version, if you knew Hindi well, it would be much more enjoyable. The curse words especially...sounds a bit lame in english.

Danny boyle sure has a scat fetish. Trainspotting, now slumdog....

which other movies has he made?

I've seen the movie last week and i loved it!!!!

Ive watched it ...
Also loved the music by A.R. Rahman. Although this might have won him mannny awards he's made better music before.

I love this movie. Every episode, the music, the best movie of the year definitely!
P.S. Need the OST of the movie

Ahhh! I'm so happy:

'Slumdog' child actors will attend Oscars in LA

By ERIKA KINETZ – 2 hours ago
MUMBAI, India (AP) — The child stars of "Slumdog Millionaire" will take their first airplane trip when they attend the Academy Awards ceremony in Los Angeles on Sunday.
The rags-to-riches story set and shot in the slums of Mumbai has been nominated for 10 Oscar awards, including best picture and best director.
All nine actors who play the three main characters in three stages of their lives will attend the Oscars, James Finn of Fox Searchlight Pictures said Friday. They include actors comfortable on the red carpet, like 18-year-old Dev Patel, who lives in London, and the glamorous Freida Pinto, 24, who has been praised in Vogue as a new style icon.
But also attending will be Azharuddin Mohammed Ismail, 10, and Rubina Ali, 9, both of whom were plucked from their homes in a Mumbai slum by director Danny Boyle and his team. The trip will be their first on an airplane and their first out of the country, relatives said.
"I'm very happy that I'm going to the Oscars," Rubina said in her home Friday, hours before she was to leave for the United States. "My friends are saying, 'your fate is so good.'"
"I'm not scared," said Rubina, who will be traveling with her uncle. "I'm going to go and take a lot of pictures and show them to people over here."
She planned to go shopping Friday afternoon for a dress to wear to the ceremony.
Rubina's uncle, Mohidden Khan, 40, laughed when he was asked what he would wear on the red carpet.
"I'm thinking maybe jeans and a T-shirt," he said.
Azharuddin's father, Mohammed Ismail, said he felt "very, very good" that his son could make the trip. Azharuddin will be traveling with his mother.
Finn said Fox Searchlight had been making visa and travel arrangements for the children and their relatives up until the last minute. Securing visas and passports in India can be a torturous process, especially for impoverished Indians who often don't have the necessary identification forms and documents.
"Everybody is really excited about it," said Finn, who added that the actors would be staying in a five-star hotel. "It's nice the whole gang will be together."

Slumdog will slam dunk at the Oscars. It's so locked-in for the win the other contenders should just leave early to party. lol

Nice story, intelligent dialogue and magnificient cinematography! I love it!

I really enjoyed this movie - I was glad that I went to see it with relatively low expecations, I've had friends go in with super high expectations after hearing what people have said about it, and been let down... For me, it was amazing

i watched the kids interview on E! there were so cute. but i am sad that one of the singers had his visa denied.

I finally saw this movie and I did love it. But I wouldn't say I loved it as much as everyone else that's seen it, though. It was still good, but I was expecting it to be one of the most moving/uplifting/best films I've seen in awhile and it didn't quite reach that level. Blame it on everyone giving me extraordinarily high hopes for it!

And YES! Those kids are SO adorable (I'm in love with the youngest Jamal).
