Snow White Film Thread

yeah, they only buy both versions if it's a "safe" movie (financially) which HP series are.

trailer for Mirror, Mirror is out and ...um..well, i have to say it's very unexpected and i don't mean it in a best possible way. it looks too satirical IMO.

also, Julia Roberts accent is kinda bad. :ninja:

^wow that was unexpected for sure! I thought it was gonna be more serious and dramatic-ish. It´s almost too childish, I don´t know if I wanna spend two hours in the cinema watching this...

btw, any news about SW And The Seven?

Definitely prefer the other Snow White B) I also thought too because it's Tarsem the graphics were going to be crazy but I'm not impressed, the Huntsman's was so much better.

I knew Mirror, Mirror was going to be more of a satire. There was a press release not too long ago that went in-depth about the plot and yeah...it's all comedy/satire.

satire is obvious (and at few moments even over the top trying to make it even arty - that's what i was referring to when saying it's too satirical, sorry for not being clear), but comic parts seems so dry and over the top and i dunno if the actual monologue/dialogue or Julia. this might be the first movie ever in which i find Julia out of the place.

Here's the trailer for Mirror, Mirror. I think this will probably be the one all the families with small kids go see.

I like the comedy aspect of the Mirror, Mirror trailer. But the whole thing just looks so cheap and... uncinematic? That's shocking because the director's other movies are so gorgeous. Definitely prefer the look of the Huntsman film. But M,M could be more fun(ny).

MM looks like it's aimed at children and families in the way that Alice in Wonderland was. It seems cute and much more lighthearted then SWATH. And what is it with both trailers focusing on the Evil Queen and not so much on Snow White? Julia Roberts seems a bit out of place here, doesn't seem very evil.
And you are right MyNameIs, the movie does seem a bit uncinematic. Although, I must say the costumes, look beautiful. If I do end up seeing MM in theaters it will probably be to drool over those gorgeous costumes. Also, did anyone else see flashes of Audrey Hepburn in Lily Collins? At some parts of the trailer I could have sworn I was looking at Audrey but nope, it was Lily looking like her.

^I think the Audrey inspiration was intentional on Collins' part but it didn't really resonate .

It is supposed to be more light hearted that's more along the lines of The Princess Bride film but so far, it reminds me more of Anne Hathaway in Ella Enchanted (that is not a good thing). A little disappointing so far, cinematography wise since Tarsem knows how to capture amazing landscapes on film like The Fall. I'm sure the editing process will present it more polished. It's more whimsical and I won't mind seeing it with my young sister.

Snow White and the Huntsman potentially be really well received by critics since it was on the Black List (meaning great screenplay that has not been greenlit). It's definitely more intriguing since it's darker with a fables element and not to mention the cast is really solid.

It's fruitless to even compare them, one is a Sunday afternoon family film the other is some twisted version of Grimm's fairytale being aimed at the teen Twilight audience. I'm sure in their own way they'll both get an audience, they're not even competing. I think SWATH, from seeing some of the dailies, is heading into epic territory, though fantastic effects will only get you so far ( I stand firm on my previous comments about the script). The best move they ever made was getting it as far away from The Hobbit as they could, it wouldn't sit up next to what that is going become. After reading come comments in Twitter and things about Mirror, Mirror I'm shocked people are surprised it's not very dark and is more comedy/satire. It's a film with Nathan Lane in it. They weren't suspicious at that point? But Lily looks incredibly beautiful, the perfect Snow White, and one who even gets a few lines in the trailer, what a novelty.

If only MM was more like AiW in terms of "funniness" I think I´d like it, but I guess Julia is no Johnny Depp, nor Singh is Burton... not that is a bad thing, just not my cup of tea.

I hope SWATH´s producers aren´t counting on the Twilight audience cause they´ve proven that they only care about the actors when they´re Bella & Edward.

speaking of SWATH, producer hinted actually they're going for a teaser for each character, that might explain the first teaser being all about the Queen:

;) “@KStewlv: @palakspatel I wonder if we will get different Snow White and the Huntsman trailers from each main character POVs?”

Hmm, I really want to see the trailer that revolves around Snow White for SWATH. Because the promo pics had Snow White in battle gear yet the trailer just shows her running away and not fighting at all. I don't want to see another film with the guy rescuing the girl, especially in a female-centered film. At least in Mirror Mirror, Snow White is defending herself and fighting.

Also am I the only one who kind of wishes SWATH revolved around the Evil Queen's character instead? I know the trailer revolved around her but Charlize really sold the character as deliciously evil and I barely noticed the other characters. Actually, it would be cool if they made a film about all the villains, like Maleficent, Ursula, Evil Queen.

judging from Kristen's comments she's slaying peeps throughout the movie and punching Hemsworth. all by herself. i think it will be shown in the next few teasers.

^That looks great! I can't wait to see the whole thing. :)

I kind of wish they had done that. I know they're planning on making a film that revolves around Maleficient instead of Sleeping Beauty and I would love it if they would do it with Snow White and the Huntsman as well, especially considering Charlize is playing the evil Queen. However, hopefully the different take on Snow White will make her seem less dumb. Although, judging from the trailer...she does still eat the apple.

Now that would be awesome to see. It would be a twist on the classic tale that's for sure. Actually, that kinda reminds me of Wicked in a way, it centers around "the wicked witch" but shows that she's not really evil more like misunderstood. Now imagine if they had done that with SWATH or any classic fairytale... so much more interesting then a similar retelling of the same story (although SWATH does seem a bit different then others).

That would be amazing if they did a Wicked angle to Snow White. I'm more excited for SWATH then Mirror Mirror tbh. It seems more interesting but I'm glad they are completely different in their approaches.
