Socialite Style

I also love Aerin. I love that she's not a conventional beauty but at the same time has striking features. That b/w photo is gorg

Paris Hilton called, she wants her dress back. thank you

^ I think Fabiola is closer to the real deal. She went to good schools in Switzerland. But, no, none of these socials (not really socialites IMO) are up to the level of the ones back in the day. I don't think they're blue blood (even though Tinsley keeps bringing up her relationship to Thomas Jefferson). Still, they are entertaining and interesting to watch!

Yeah, Tinsley and a few descendants of Jefferson's slaves!

agree with the Lydia comment. usually socialites have this 'refined' look about them, but she just looks really trashy. This is also the case for Casey Johnson, IMO.

Yes, the Thomas Jefferson thing is quite funny. There are TONS of people in the US population that are descendents of the founding fathers, but who do not claim it as anything more than interesting. For the most part, these people are part of the middle class. Everyone knows that Tinsley married way up, and there is no great shame in that if they love each other, but for her to try so hard to create any background that is mroe than just an upper middle class girl from Virginia is silly. And then her father comes out and says things like "Tinsley lived in the biggest house in Richmond, I am sick of people saying she comes from nothing," only prooves what her upbringing is even more.

And thanks everyone for the nice feedback to my post!

Agreed. My family is related to Patrick Henry, James Madison, Daniel Boone, Betsey Ross, and Dolley Madison. With the genealogy papers, I can't tell you how many tons of other people you can find who are descendants as well - most being middle/upper-middle class. And although it is neat to be related to them & I am proud of my family's heritage, I don't tell every person who will listen. Most "socialites" today may come from "generational wealth", but a great deal of their families started as poor immigrants - Cornelius Vanderbilt, Andrew Carnegie, John Rockefeller (although I suppose that's debatable) to name a few - who happened to get into a business that made them a great deal of money. It is not shameful to have married up such as Tinsley Mortimer, but her family has no class in saying things such as that quote from her father.

It's more about an appartment than about a socialite (here Tory Burch) but I'll post anyway because that place is gorgeous.
