Socialite Style

I don't understand Casey Johnson's choice of hair and makeup, mostly the hair though. Did she not look in a mirror before leaving the house?

I agree about Casey Johnson. And i can't wait to see the backlash from Lydia's comments about Paris

um - lydia is NOT a supermodel. And what career in journalism does she have? or designing for that matter? Doing one or two things, doesn't make it a "legitimate career". Get over yourself. The only difference is that Lydia hasn't tarnished her last name.

I think Lydia looks somewhat deformed. I know it sounds me and callous but she does to me at least. Not beautiful at all. Such a difference between her and the beauty that is her cousin Amanda.

 Nope, you're not alone on that! Very inbred looking, I think its the small jaw.

What on EARTH is going on with Casey Johnson??? She looks positively crazed. I honestly do not think she is capable of rearing a child, and it breaks my heart that so many people would love to give their love, time and attention to a child but of all the people Casey adopts one? She seemed barely coherent in that interview with Suchin Pak. I'm just going to wait for the mommy-dearest tell all to come out in the future. :innocent:

"I went to college. I'm a supermodel. I have a legitimate career in journalism, television, fashion and designing. I'm a Hearst, not a Hilton!"

- Lydia Hearst to OK! magazine, on the differences between her and Paris Hilton

OOO!!! - I wonder who Richie and Traver will side with!!

A feature that appeared in Vogue. The article is unnecessarily raving and nose-browning as is usual with Norwich but my, most of those girls are really beautiful.

Vogue always gushes over society girls...just look at their coverage of Lauren Davis' wedding. Like American royalty is how she was treated.

^I didn't see that article. In which issue was that?
And I agree, they overdo it every time. It's ridiculous, especially since most of these girls are glorified party girls at best (Aerin Lauder is one of the few who deserve the praises).

^That's just one of the many reasons I dislike Vogue so much. Articles like this are just so tiresome. Not seeing/reading anything compelling here fashion/personality-wise.

I can't believe this line:

"...there are other young people attending to their jobs, their studies and their good works quietly and harmoniously."

Yes...yes there are, duh. I mean honestly, how sad is it that we have give kudos to people for doing what 99% of the world is already doing anyway (without any thanks or nepotism I might add :innocent:) as if it were extraordinary? And I hardly think a summer job in the curation dept. that your art curator mother hooked up for you is newsworthy.

Casey Johnson I might have to keep tabs on because she is a trainwreck though.

How is she related to Jamie Johnson again? Are they cousins?

^i think it was from september 07. most of the girls in this story aren't actually party girls at all, but the ones usually featured in vogue certainly are (lauren, tinsley, arden, etc.). clairborne swanson who's one of the girls in the american beauties article is anna wintour's new assistant.

It was the issue with Drew Barrymore on the cover, I'm sure it was pretty recent. She married that Santo Domingo heir and everyone in high society was at that wedding.

I don't mind reading about these girls, some of them are interesting, I mean I like the Traina sisters, Amanda Hearst, and a few of the Euro girls but most of them are a little too glorified. I mean Lauren Davis is supposed to be a "contributing editor" at Vogue but the position is a tad specious at best. I don't know what her background is but her wedding dress was handmade couture and cost six-figures.

Casey is a trainwreck, and yes she and Jamie are cousins. He is from the more scandalous side of the family but you might remember her from this feud she got in with her Aunt. Apparently her much older aunt stole her boyfriend, it was all over Page Six and Casey got a Vanity Fair spread out of it. In the VF article she said she was adopting a girl from Kazakhstan, who knows if it happened, her reasons for adoption were self-serving.

^Oh it happened! There are pictures of her and her daughter Ava Monroe online now.

I don't keep up with socialite news, but I came across an article about family feuds on Vanity Fair and they mentioned her and I just kept reading about everything that happened a few days ago -- the 38 yo bf who left her for her Aunt, the spaced out interview with Suchin Pak about adopting, pictures of her looking crazy with her adopted baby, her mother married Ahmad Rashad (wth? when did that happen?), the pictures of her in VF, it's all just...crazy!

What disturbed me greatly, was that she adopted during a really unstable time in her life, apparently her mother isn't talking to her, nor her father who disapproved of the adoption and right after her bf left her. So it's just her...and a maid or whatever. Poor kid.

Thank you Luxx, I'll check it out.

Oh I wasn't talking about the girls in the article (who seem lovely and grounded) but the Park Avenue Peerage gang that makes up most of this thread (Horseface Tinsley and her girlfriends). They are just a useless bunch of girls who married up and have a lot of time in their hands. I don't hate them because they are entertaining in a shallow way (and we all need a bit of shallow in our life), but I sure don't admire them or buy the crap Vogue try to feed us every month.

I actually saved the Vanity Fair issue and ran across the article recently and remembered how bizarre it all was. I know she originally wanted to take a child from a Cambodia orphanage but her aunt objected...and rightly so.

She seems too used to just taking, but I'll have to look up the pics with her little girl. I remember her father was pissed at her but at the time of the article her mother was supportive. Anyway she seems to still be living off her parent's funds......of course.

I think Veronica Swanson is lovely in the article. I love that last photo of her in particular.

Although I never did hear about Casey's adoption actually happening.
