Soy Beans

I'm confused... do you mean soy beans... ???

^ Yes, Im pretty certain that is what Golden means...
my take is that they taste gross...

It's actually very unhealthy. Although it contains protein, it produces a harmful chemical reaction in your body.

People were healthier (foodwise) a long, long time ago when there was no processed foods. No skim milk. Keep to the basic, minimally processed food - it is the healthiest.

^---- What? Are you sure?

Btw, I've gotten used to the taste of soybeans, but if you mix them with raisins they rock.

Actually, regular soy beans are quite good for you...

Yes! It's a main ingredient in Japanese food and we have one of the highest life expectancies in the world.

It's far healthier than meat. In fact it is even a better source of proteins than animal products because the proteins and amino acids in soy are more easily and completely assimilated in the body. Not to mention the phytoestrogens and isoflavones...in Japan it's known to give you beautiful skin, help maintain hormonal balance and make you beautiful. ;)

...unless you are allergic to it of course, as with anything else.

Yay, I'm happy when people know edamame. Mmm! ^_^

Actually, soy beans are called daizu.

Edamame is a specific type of soybean, harvested at a specific time, cooked in a specific way...fresh in their pods, lightly boiled and salted.

Soy beans are yummy! Especially roasted and lightly salted as a snack ^_^

I think they're healthy... why should they be processed? They're roasted, ok... but unless you're a raw foodist, that's no problem in my eyes.

If you like them, go ahead and eat some.

^ Exactly, I always thought Soy beans are healthy.
I mean if we're talking about processed food, isn't it better to have soy beans
than a glass of coke ?

And I've read in so many places it's filled with protein.
I'm gonna try them roasted too ! ^_^

^ I always though soy products (including soy beans) were healthy too but a friend sent me this http://thyroid.about.com/cs/soyinfo/a/soy.htm because I've got thyroid problems and I thought I'd share. It doesn't affect me because I don't really like soy products. Bottomline is, everything should be taken in moderation ... including "healthy" stuff I guess.

I like soy products, but I've been trying to limit my intake because SO many are genetically modified. Soy beans are one of the most genetically modified foods.

does anyone know for sure if soy is really bad for the thyroid? i love edamame, but i want to stop eating it if it's ultimately bad. i've asked doctors about soy, and they don't say anything bad about it.

hmmmm

I prefer "natural" soy beans that you first have in water for 10 hours, then boil for 1,5 hours...im actually doing that at the moment :D

It great healthy food that you can eat instead for meat if you'd like, it has a lot of proteins.

My favourite is frying them with onion, garlic, salt pepper, mushrooms and sweet corn...yummy!

i'm sorry, but on planet earth, soy beans grow out of the ground...unprocessed.
