Couldn't find a general thread on sports, so I thought it was time we had one. :flower:

And I was wondering...

  • What sports do you like?
  • What sports do you play/do, if any?
  • If you play any sports, do you do it simply because you like/love the sport, or more so, for exercise and to stay in shape?
  • Are there any sports you like to watch, but that you would most likely never do, or even want to do, yourself?

  • In general, I tend to like extreme sports. I am an adrenaline junkie who's driven by danger. Some that I love are surfing, skydiving, skateboarding, motocross, hang gliding, rock climbing, water skiing.
  • I don't really participate in any sports, as of now. I'm consumed by art, and as much as I am passionate about art, I realize I'm also terribly out of shape, and that art doesn't offer me much exercise. But I'd like to start waking up and surfing every morning before going about the rest my day. ^_^
  • I have to love the sport, I won't do it solely to stay in shape, I don't have a strong enough drive to be fit to do a sport that I don't even like.
  • BMX is cool, but somehow I always see myself getting terribly injured, should ever attempt it. It's weird, because there are plenty of other sports I like and do/would do, that are just as dangerous, but somehow I just see myself being extremely rubbish at BMX. :ninja: Also gymnastics is pretty cool, but I don't think I could ever do gymnastics myself.

  • Swimming, Tennis, Snooker, Curling, Surf & that's pretty much it.
  • Swimming, Football(very very rarely, few times per year :ninja:) & Tennis, used to be one of greatest tennis players of my school when I was in elementary school, good times -_-
  • Right now, I only do Swimming, I do it because I like it & to stay in shape.
  • yes, Surf for example, would like to learn but I'm not able to, at least right now.

  • Hockey, Gymnastics and Tennis. Much stronger attention towards hockey than everything else but I do enjoy watching a fair share of tennis, plus, when Olympic time rolls around, I'm always impressed by the Gymnastics.
  • Tennis in the Summer/Spring. Unfortunately, it's a really short season but love it nonetheless. It's the one sport I'm actually okay with and don't necessarily trip/make-myself-an-fool in.
  • Both reasons, Tennis is a great game to build some strength from but you don't have to be extremely good at it at the same time. Almost anybody can play the game really, if I can then there must be some hope :ninja::lol:
  • Oh good god, hockey would be absolute suicide for me. Many reasons as to why I love the game though, but it's the history, the players and the intensity what attracts me. Only it's a rough game, when you fall down, it's all ice, no support of grass or anything. The speed too, and how the players react on the ice, I dunno', I just love it.

anything with a racket and a ball. :)

always for fun and for exercise

That's true, though I think a lot of sports like [American] football are rough like...wonder if the grass helps football players, at all, though... ice as you said, is unforgiving if you hit it hard, no cushion, whatsoever.

I'm don't mind playing sports in which one could easily be injured, but I'm not sure if I'd want to play a sport where a good portion of injuries come from literally body slamming your opponents all the time. Having injuries mainly from being hit or tackled or what not by other players, is more brutal to me, than sports in which most injuries are accidental, like an athlete sticking their landing wrong or something. ;)

Try playing football on pavement as compared to on grass, big difference lol, you would get all bloodied up playing on pavement, when I was in middle school we knew to play touch football on the concrete lol, grass different story.

Regarding which sports I like, they are; football, 2 cousins in NFL, Hockey, Tennis, Baseball, and basketball.

I used to play all those, but my body type is on the much smaller side for males who do those sports.

What sports do you like? Almost any! Soccer, Basketball, Football (American) are probably my top 3 favorite though

What sports do you play/do, if any? If you play any sports, do you do it simply because you like/love the sport, or more so, for exercise and to stay in shape? I play soccer - have since I was young! I love the sport and it just so happens to keep me in shape! Sometimes I run 5k's or 10k's to also keep me in shape but running isn't as fun, I don't think.

Are there any sports you like to watch, but that you would most likely never do, or even want to do, yourself? The sports that I mostly watch (soccer, basketball, american football, baseball, hockey, tennis, etc) I've tried at some point in my life but I only ended up sticking with soccer!

Favorite sport to watch/follow/attend is BASEBALL. Ugh, I love it. I also like to watch Football (American), Tennis and Basketball.

As for playing ... I play volleyball sometimes. Tennis once in a while. Used to play soccer, but it kinda lost its appeal to me.

FOOTBALL (american), basketball, and baseball are my favorite sports to watch (Giants/Knicks/Mets fan :D)

I used to run track, but those days are over. I mostly just watch sports as opposed to participating in them.

Wanted to bump this one since i miss sports..

I'm probably somewhat of a sports junkie, I pretty much like everything..
I've played badminton for about 10 years (just started again after a 2 year break) and I have about 20 weeks of skiing experience.. - Though I really do like volley and squash as well and would love to play it, but I don't have the time..
I want to start swimming though since there is a place very close to me where it is so very cheap. Also I do Pilates..

Since I don't have a TV I don't really watch sports at the moment. But when I had one I always watched handball, big soccer games, badminton, wimbeldon and french open, downhill skiing, biathlon and Tour de France. These were my must see stuff. but I tend to watch a bit of other stuff as well..

I love the competition in the sport and does it mainly for fun.. but the exercise is a nice plus point..
