Starbucks coffee??

I didn't mean that in an offensive manner, I just notice alot of people putting on a fake english accent when purchasing a drink, that's all. Sorry if you took it offensively.

Oh, no worries.
I'm English and I sometimes feel silly in American Starbucks branchs asking for a lah-tay!

I remember when I was in high school, like 5, 6 years ago girls were already carrying coffee around like that. Coffee's always been popular, but STARBUCKS coffee is a newer trend obviously.

you should see rush hour in NYC... starbucks in one hand, WSJ, iPod, blackberry or Bluetooth earpiece and magazine in another.

at (a.m.) meetings, i have starbucks (quad, skim or soy cap) handy ^_^

I was just having a conversation with my brother at the dinner table and he mentioned to me that when he first started college about three years ago, not one person would carry their coffee around as they were walking to class or frolicking around. Now that I am in college three years later, EVERYONE does it! This phenomenon has probably been sparked from the Olsen Twins and just about every other celebrity who is seen photographed on the streets of L.A with their iced coffee these days...so it is enough to call it an accessory?

...let me just add why i choose Starbucks for the simple reason that it is the only coffee house that have soymilk handy and splenda, other than Pete's Coffee in Cali. I don't go to Starbucks because it's the "in" thing or worst, because of the Olsen Twins

I am a Starbucks addict, plain and simple, and have been since 7th grade. I carry the cup around as a way of saying "I have zero energy".

its one of the greatest modern accessories. You always feel better when youre carrying one!

Did anyone hear the rumor a few months ago about Jennifer Garner/Ben Affleck and Starbucks? Right after she announced her pregnancy and the media was very interested in her they were seen with a ton of Starbucks...
and some said it was a "contract"; they got some money for carrying/drinking Starbucks in public as much as possible.

Isn't that nuts?
Don't think it's true. If anything, Starbucks owes the Olsens some money because you just know they brought in some silly customers.:p

i've usually finished the drink by the time i've made it out the door,...i don't know how they sip so slowly. i chug my caffeine! i like coffee bean better though...starbucks in paris is crap and columbus is eh ok

Nice fantasy you're having... I guess you don't see many poor people?

No offense, but you are really not aware of how many people live.

Well considering I see every single person carrying a coffee in the morning, but not a designer person I guess their is a difference! Plus, most students can be seen with coffee and they have less money than a lot of people... considering all the loans they have, working a couple of jobs to get by... etc

I am sooooo ahead of the trend.......I used to talk about how cool it was to have a coffee cup handy in the mid 90s.............the company I worked for ALWAYS had shots of people with their to go cups in our catalogs....which was funny because we also sold the stainless steel coffee cups.

but being a true crack addict.....I buy my coffee as close to work as possible so I don't have to carry it....luckily I've got a cafe across the street that has great coffee.

tang--you're funny.....in the snow.........we are sooooo from the same generation:flower:

my reason for going to Starbucks is that, while you can get a coffee anywhere (indeed, at a number of little places on the street i live on in London) there's only one place to get a Starbucks Chai Tea Latte <3

I can't say I have my coffee as an accessory, more like my body says, "Caffine, I want it...NOW." It seems that a lot of people on the east coast don't like Starbucks as much because it's so bitter. Some of the local shops even have east vs west coast blends. Personally I like Starbucks because their white mocha is made with white syrup. Brewhaha, another local coffee place uses powder in their drinks.

Besides, when I want coffee I have to either choose between Starbucks or....I can keep driving/walking for something else that might show up (which is usually another Starbucks). Or I guess I could always go to the local Dunkin Donuts for their coffee.. :yuk: :yuk:

Is`nt the Starbucks cup kind of what a cigarette used to be?

It is a "sexy" accessory to play with, and also makes people addicted. So once they started using it, it`s difficult to stop.

Here in Europe people still carry many more cigarettes and many less coffees around than in the US... But at least you mainly see the coffee and dont smell it...

For me it's an addiction I don't care if i'm getting it in a Starbucks cup or a freakin IV. I drink Starbucks cause I like it,period.

i know, it seems stupid, but from time to time i like to have a paper cup (not necessarily filled with coffee - tea is fine with me, too) to cling to, e.g. between classes or while waiting for someone.. when i feel self-conscious otherwise, it's like a cigarette substitute or a substitute for having a book to read. (and it fills my stomach, and keeps me warm and awake if necessary.) but it kind of annoys me when it seems to be pretentious: one day i found myself waiting at the bus station with a woman holding a coffee (not starbucks as we don't have that here, but from a bakery i think) i live in a neighbourhood without ANY shops around, no cafés, no bakeries - only residential houses. so she must have brought her cup to the bus station. then she was sipping all the way to campus, STILL sipping when we got out of the bus 20 minutes later. i wonder what the meaning of all this was..

sometimes i take a mug from home to a lecture or seminar if i'm running late or would like to sip it during the lecture so as to wake myself up a bit... perhaps the woman was just really tired?

There is a Starbucks about 50 feet from the front door of the building where I work but I became finally and completely disgusted with them a couple of years ago when they started playing Christmas music before Thanksgiving, and when I commented, they told me that their orders were to play the Christmas music until after New Year's. I just don't like Christmas music that much.

I usually just have coffee at home before going to work, but if I need to get a go-cup, I go to one of the Italian coffee shops in North Beach (SF's Little Italy.) It's better coffee and I support my locals, and then I get to be a cool person carrying an Illy cup several blocks...

I drink espresso shots - I'm done usually before I get to the door, and practically before I get to the front of the line :p so, no cups leaving with me, and hardly any worries.
