Eurotrash said:. But... my boyfriend works there and gets a massive discount or gets our drinks for free so I'm fine with drinking my coffe ala Starbucks.
My boyfriend worked at a Starbucks for 4 years or so and I probably had a latte or some other drink everyday. When he left there we both lost alot of weight.

Though I don't have much good stuff to say about their coffee....
Starbucks does treat their employees very well.

Nice fantasy you're having... I guess you don't see many poor people?
No offense, but you are really not aware of how many people live.
marsmars said:Okay, so someone from a poverty-stricken nation cannot buy Starbucks. I get that. But what about a poor person in America? 1.90$ for a hot chocolate at Starbucks is in no way outside their means.
In addition, I've seen a couple starbucks in less-than-trendy neighborhoods entertaining a large market.
...I mean any poor person can buy a coffee without thinking twice.
I agree that most people in the US can scrape up $1.90 if they want to, and if they want to spend it at Starbucks that is their right.brokenenglish said:Starbucks does treat their employees very well.

I meant the corporation in general...
pretty good pay, chances to advance in the company
good benefits
vacation/sick hours
stuff like that....
his manager on the other hand SUCKED...

I agree that there are now a lot of Olsen-wannabees who have adopted a Starbucks cup as an accessory. But this is perhaps putting the cart before the horse, as there were a lot of people walking around with Starbucks cups before the Olsens entered high school.
For that matter, there is a Coffee Undergroundthat has been walking around carrying cups of hot coffee (without spilling it, usually) for many years before Starbucks existed. Some of us even skateboarded to our college classes carrying our coffee (usually without spilling.)
Uphill in both directions. In the snow.

When you spend $3.60 for a latte or cappuccino at your favorite cafe do you realize that less than one cent of that goes to the coffee farmer?

...you should also look into a documentary entitled "black coffee"
, right isnt that funny you are looking on this fashion site and probably looking at all the nice things you want to buy.... Isnt that funny... that all the items (designer wear) that you see here is made by very poor people too. Do you think they get anything close to the retail price. Please do not preach... buying a good tasting cup of coffee isnt all that bad. tangerine said:This is too hilarious.
