Well, most people like Emmy because she such a change from other stars her age (Hilary Duff, Lindsey Lohan, Mischa Barton, etc.) She has a sophistication and elegance that most women can't pull off at all, let alone at the age of 19. As far as I know she had never done an ad for Ralph Lauren, Calivin Klien or any other designer. She seems to have an old hollywood glamour. And I think that the other reason people like her is talent. So many young celebs have very little, and she had tons. She can sing (better than most singers), she can act(more so than many of her contemporaries like Lindsey, Hilary, Mischa, Kera, etc), and she very intelligent. She represents something that a lot of people want to emulate. Anyway I think she's worn some nice pieces- I wish she's wear more bold, bright colors, but she seems to be slowly exploring her style.style_savy said:I really don't understand the fascination with Emily here at TFS. Why not look at pictures of Lauren Bush or Penelope Cruise if you want to see a boring advertisements for Calvein Klein and similar pieces? At least they're being paid to dress so plain.

Oh, I didn't mean her style was the equivalent (or even similar to) that of Grace Kelly, Audrey Hepurn, Marilyn Monroe, etc. I just mean it was remenicient of a time when grace and elegance were valued over showing a lot of skin. I agree that her style s generally more modern, and I actually like that she doesn't try to emulate Marilyn Monroe (a la Christina). BTW-I think a thread about old hooywood glamour is a great idea.style_savy said:Fair enough about people liking her. It is refreshing that a star out there isn't sl*tty as hell as soon as fame sets in but as far as saying old hollywood glamour I disagree with. When I think of say Audrey Hepburn, Marilyn Monroe, Grace Kelly, Marlene Dietrich etc.... I feel she does not emmulate that at all. Yes, she is simplistic and classy but that doesn't make old hollywood. Christina Aguilera probably best emulates a modern style of it but that's only because she wants to be Marilyn. Sometimes Jessica Simpson wears some great old glamour looks. Back then it was all about the waist line. There should be a thread about this look it's my favorite. I think I'll start one now!![]()
