Stella McCartney F/W 2020.21 Paris

Beautiful. The bear at the end ruins half of the impression.

There were a bunch of different animals costumes; I'm assuming to make a point about animal welfare but it came across as too gimmicky for a brand like Stella McCartney. Then again, gimmicks are her roots and this is essentially going back to that, but it seemed odd to me because she has worked so hard to distance her brand from what she did in 2002/03.

I love Stella but she is one of those designers who needs to chill on the oversized trend. She needs to go back to more fitted silhouettes.
However, there are some gorgeous pieces/looks in this collection! The white shaggy coat, the shaggy black sweater worn with the skirt with front slit, the look on Alber and some of the dresses towards the end are fablulous!

I only like the blue navy coat worn by Amber Valletta...and that´s because it brings back nice memories from late 90s/early 00s Helmut Lang.

The furries ruined it.
Pretty sure there're conventions somewhere for the furries.

Taking a stand for your principles is admirable.
Putting ugly clothes on the runway is not.

Much better than most of her output in recent years. This feels like a return to simplicity for her, at least the high collared coats and some of the final looks feel quite authentic and like a step in the right direction. I can see she's still partly stuck with that rebooted 80s silhouette that Marant has taken and run with in places, she (and everyone else) need to leave that now.

It's an okay collection. Stella can do better. One of her own worst enemies is the fact that she wants to bring in the eco-friendly / cruelty free gimmick to her designs. She has great tailoring and her suits show that. When she does form fitting clothes, they also looks great. And I wish she moved past some of the repetitive signatures that can clearly be taken away until they pop ion the store. At least, the oversize here is quite flattering.

We have enough people doing this oversize look that nobody actually wants to wear in real life.
