Steven Meisel - Photographer

finally a new picture :o thanks for posting :flower:
I think the fact he so rarely gets out there anymore, adds even more allure and mystery to him and his work. But sure would love to see more of him, i never seen that GAP shot so if you or anyone can post it, i would appreciate. And rh85, thanks a million for all the candids, specially those with Teri Toye, its so hard to get shots from that time with him,Teri and Sprouse, so that one made my day.:flower:

Oh and there is a different picture of him in the April 2004 issue with Gwen Stefani on the cover, its very nice actually, i just dont own a scanner anymore or i would have happily scanned it.

Imagen2-5.png

wwwwd.org (worldwide womnswear digest )

Could you imagine a tv program of steven meisel! all the models, fashion and the drama!!lol...It could be amazing seeing him work as he is a genious photographer as well as the top ph in fashion right now.

But it will break his misterious allure, so who knows if its a good idea or true anyway

Though I want this news badly to be true, it's not

WWWWD is like a parody of WWD, like The Onion

So for now this is only a wishful thinking on our part

Well, if u read deeply into it u will know this certainly raises doubts,
Meisel is known to be media shy, rarely gives interviews so it's kind of impossible for him to suddenly do a documentary

But well thanks leblue15, u made me happy for a split second :flower:

No eye contact please...

I LOVE the "no eye contact" clause... I'm implementing that on all of my shoots, with immediate effect! :ninja:

rh85 thanks for the ad. :flower:

Dont think this was posted;

I read his interview in 032c. It was super interesting considering he's so illusive. And although I really want his interview, theres no way I'm not going to pay $30 though for 4 pages of information!! :innocent:

But, heres a little recap for those interested; please excuse the poor language! :ninja:

But he basically reiterates the same information on how he started; at Parsons sketching, how he was shot supermodels a la paparazzi when he was 14 (?) etc etc.

He says that a lot of the time, his images get refused publication; even in Vogue Italia. He says how "State of Emergency" went a little too far and that was one of the times a great deal of photos were refused publication.

He says his shoots for US Vogue take 1-2 days and his shoots for Vogue Italia take 2-3 days. Adding that Franca allows him a great deal of freedom and that a lot of his ideas for photoshoots have been rejected.

He says he shoots in Los Angeles a lot because it offers a great deal more locations than New York. Adding that although his shoots are greatly cinematic, he could never be a director.

He says he draws a lot of inspiration from Fellini's 8 1/2 and that he watches it all the time. And that he loves Antonioni and "Blow-Up".

He says that the exhibition that was curated in 2004 was done with his disapproval and that most of the images chosen were ones he utterly disliked.

He says he doesn't keep his photos on display or reflects on them but has recently started to do so because he heard a therapist say that it is important to surround yourself with images of people you know.

He says he leaves all the editing and photoshopping to assistants and that he works with a large entourage, adding that he doesn't really know why.

He says glamour is gone and that now fashion is more about t-shirts and jeans, H&M and attention grabbing.

He says something like "how can I relate to a 16 year old girl who doesn't speak a word of English?".

He also admits that he is a diva! :innocent:

He deserves to be a Diva!:lol:Go on with your fabulous self,Steven.
