the more i think about him the more obsessed i become i wish i was near him, but hes rarely in public

we need some meiselism overdose through the fashion world especially through american vogue

i think im going to look at every image he made in the past and from now on, im obsessed now!

could someone describe how a "Meisel Girl"would look like? I want to look like a Meisel girl

I Think the discuss of Steven Meisel now the other photographers die is the best right now is veryy stupid speciality a little respet Irvingsome days week ago.
Oviusly the fans of Meisel lovee meisel say the best of the history ,etc etc sure are fan and i like the fant coment your opinion, and the other no like Meisel mabe say no.
For me fan of Mario Testino but i like much the work of Meisel are in my 5 favorites photographers but the true is a fantastic photographers but the work realize Avedon, Newton, penn etc are fantatic about the ideas and the time take the photos, now all are more eassy, but say Meisel is the best photographer now no about is the best any copy works of other photographers, artist for my opinion NO.

I am dead serious. All i have on my mind these days is 24h Meisel Meisel Meisel. I never had this. So i want to walk outside looking like a Meisel Girl, I want that Meisel Magic! So im looking at all his pics and trying to do "his girl" Versatile ok i need more his work is art there are way more ingrediantes than just versatile. Also he makes his girls look like a Meisel. I dont want to look like a Vermeer, i want to look like a MEISEL!!!!!

OK let me try to find a description of a Meisel type, if no one can help me, how would she be dressed, hair and what kind of attitude, spirit would she have? What are we seeing in the photographs?

Whoa, Whoa hold up folks.

I understand we all have different opinions and that at times we will just have to agree to disagree, but i certainly do not agree with the sentiment of Meisel not being an artist; that's just absurd to IMHO. I understand what you are trying to say in essence testinofan, but i truly and wholeheartedly disagree especially with the thought of Meisel's effort and produce being "easy" because Avedon, Penn and other greats "paving" the way for him. For years, Meisel has successfully rendered body of works cumulative of many of the greats resulting in a style of his own that is seemingly hidden behind staged sets and over-the-top themes. If you were to simply formally compare the work of Avedon to Meisel, you'd see that they are both superb in their own right. The way Meisel's aesthetic and work still stands so strongly & cohesively with so many distractions of hair & make up, creative direction and other factors that could work against a photographer truly makes him a modern day icon of photography and an automatic future legendary. Penn was known for his simplistic still life, fashion photographs and portraiture and i believe Meisel will be known for holding so much precision in chaos, as proven in so much of his work for Italian Vogue.

Though i am a die hard fan, i would never say that Meisel is the best in history; it's unarguable that this title would go to Avedon, Newton and Penn because they ARE history ( not saying that in a disrespectful way).

I think first and foremost Meisel likes 'his' girls to be sane and have their own unique individual style.

If you want to "look like a Meisel girl", you need to be photographed by him ... then you will look like one ... plain an simple.

It's done through lighting, composition, manipulating the camera, photoshopping the images in post production. It's all the things that a good photographer like Meisel can do. He doesn't pick the clothes and the makeup, especially if it's for an ad or some other client. It's done by the colaboration of a team: an art director, a stylist, makeup artists, hair artists, the client and him. And the "attitude" comes from his guidance and how he relates with the models when he's shooting. It's a very intimate connection. Only Meisel can make someone look like a "Meisel" and he could probably do it with anyone, to some degree.

It's all smoke and mirrors ... it's fashion photography, not real life.

I really don`t like him!!!He is with so high self confidence and also he is very very very inflated.And he is so antipathetic to me just...I can simply say that i hate him!And the bad fact is that he doesn`t want to work with The House of Dior!!!!!!And to add he is also overrated....

The man is hardly ever seen in public, and rarely gives opinions. I don't think it's fair of any of us to really judge his personality - unless you're basing your opinion on a personal encounter.
