What's the latest idea they've thought of? Releasing a new 3 pan palette every month.

It's times like these I'm glad I'm not a Stila fan or this would send me broke!

Here's the January palette:

i have to admit, i'm not really liking stila so much lately... well the packaging and marketing at least, i've loved the shadows and lip products forever & still do. estee lauder co. is the worst thing that happened to stila. it used to be a quirky boutique-ish makeup artist line and now it looks like like it's marketed towards 12 year olds :(

i used to love the stila girl b/c she was used sparsely and was a cute gimmick... now it's just... overload.

does anyone know if stila shadows fit into any other palettes other than the one's they offer?

Yes especially with the likes of the 'Legally Blonde' palettes. Blah blah, did they really need to sell-out?

sabine, I couldnt agree with you more. Obviously EL has allowed Stila to expand but by the looks of things, the direction at which its heading isnt a good sign

especially the latest Vintage Hankies  they look awfully cheap and gimmicky

ew, STILA, ew!!

Get it away from me.

And the Vintage Hankies collection is definitely barf-worthy. It's the biggest gimmick I've ever seen!

That 3-pan a month seems like another.

I have to say... I don't fully agree...

Stila's shadows are great. Vey well pigmented, great colors... I just touched their big blush and powder brushes and I have to get those!!!!! The lipsticks are very good, etc.

But... It's the packaging... I think that in the beginning they were great and it was a very innovative idea, plus the dolls were cute. But the dolls give an image they don't want to give (I was talking to someone at a counter this week in Madrid and she said that people will go to them thinking Stila is cheap as an option for make up for 13 y.o. kids who want to play with make up because the doll gives the impression that the products will be cheap, which is absolutely not true...). And the dolls give me no ideas about the looks Stila stands behind, etc...
So I'd keep the doll but I'd start looking for real models as well. Jeanine Lobell created the dolls because she had no money for models when she started. Well... That period is over now and it's time to grow up a bit, but the products are still excellent.

Thanks to "Sample Clause" at Sephora, I have discovered stila's illuminating tinted moisturizer. It gives light, natural coverage and feels great on the skin. I think it would be especially great for our younger members/members new to makeup.

I'm also loving stila's lip glaze.

Any other stila fans?

I love Stila.

Stila was recently sold by EL to a smaller FL based company. I know that their website is under construction and I think we should expect the new company to restructure the Stila line. I miss the Jeannie Lobell Stila days.

Stila recently purged several of their regular lip color shades (including an old fave of mine, Kate). In its place are their new lightweights, high shine lip color and long wear lip color. While I do like high shine and long wear, I miss the old selection!

Stila has a new creative director now. If you know and loved 'old stila' before EL bought out the brand from Jeanne Lobell, you'll like where the collection is directed.

They are bringing back the older Stila - Girl packaging and are re-releasing formally discontinued items such as the eye gloss pens.

Spring 2008 will also see the release of 56 brand new eye-shadow pans.

I collect Stila items and I have a lot of it! I can't wait for this all to happen.

Do you all have photos of your stila collections? If so, post them! I'd love to see them. I can post my collection too!

^^^

They aren't going to return to the old cardboard packaging they had for lipsticks, are they? Wasn't a big fan of that.

Has anyone tried thier "smudge pot" eyeliner? I'm fairly young and have no experience with eyeliners.... liquid scares me and pencils don't work well for me. But the smudge pot eyeliner is applied with a brush, and it's a gel, so mabye it will be easier for me?

The lip glazes are so goopy, thick and sticky  wonderful packaging though.

I love their convertible colour range, the one in petunia is extremely wearable on all sorts of skin tones.

Wow my boyfriend found my lip glaze gave it to me I dropped it in a second and it is lost again!

I think there'll be a new wind for Stila.

They are revamping the line totally in spring 08 so we'll be seeing new interesting things - as opposed to no update in e/s colors in years, the pull out of pro colors and the same boring palettes with the same kits containing the same basics.
