stretch marks and relationships (advice for a friend)

Self tanning lotion is a good thing to use if your stretch marks are lighter than your actual skin Color. It probably won't tan her skin if she is dark already but it will tan the marks to a closer color of her normal skin. But sun and tanning beds will do the exact opposite and tan your skin and not your stretch marks leaving them much more noticeable. And if you want a drastic change for good, then microdermebrashion is proven to work VERY well, but its expensive. I have some on my butt and thighs and a little on my breast, I have not yet met a person without them, even skinny minnie ppl have them from growing taller, thats how I mainly got mine.

Yes, a 'guy' would notice stretch-marks but he's hardly going to say 'Ewww, no way - you have stretch-marks'...

Men are more conscerned about the shape than the texture... they don't really care about the stretch marks especially when your have a good body... All my b/f have told me to stop worrying about it ( i was like your friend), it doesn't make any difference to them...
Tell her though to take care of her, expecially around the hips, butt and boobs, she should be putting cream every time she takes shower and stuff or at least tell her not to use dry soap...

I really feel for your friend. She has a very serious problem with her self-image if she has let her stretch marks (no matter how obvious) interfere with her admission to an Ivy League school.

Of course some guys are put off by stretch marks, just as some are put off by red hair and some by a few extra pounds. She doesn't want to know those anyway.Guys worth being with love and value you as a person. They see your less-than-perfections and they love you anyway.

You friend is young and beautiful and bright now...it would be a shame to let bad self-worth (based on anything, but certainly on something as silly as stretch marks) interfere with all that life is offering her right now.

The problem is not what guys think or want,or what anyone else thinks--it's that she has very low self esteem.

Good luck trying to support her...but I think that your comments are not going to change her mind. She does need professional help in order to appreciate the fabulous person she is.
