Paris store offers stripping tips

The lessons are for women only, the store stresses
One of France's best-loved department stores has outraged feminists by offering striptease lessons to female customers this weekend in Paris.
Galeries Lafayette has announced it is to offer lessons with  professional strippers showing customers how to reveal all in the most alluring way.
A French feminist group has threatened to demonstrate outside the shop.
What used to be a rather staid department store now seems determined to cultivate a new, raunchier image.
A professional demonstration lets you discover the gestures it takes to unveil your pretty underwear

First came singles nights in its gourmet food hall, the BBC's Caroline Wyatt reports, and now an initiative which French feminists claim is distinctly below the belt.
The shop is opening what it says is the world's largest lingerie department and, to celebrate, it plans to offer female customers striptease lessons this Saturday.
Women will be shown how to make the most of their new purchases by two professional striptease artists.
Their hints include wearing high heels and avoiding unsightly knee-high stockings, plus instructions on how not to get your skirt tangled up in those heels  .
One feminist group says the idea is demeaning to women.
The shop's customers however, have mixed feelings.
Some say that, even here, in the world capital of seduction, a few lessons would not go amiss.
But others complain that a shop they could once happily browse in with their grandmother is fast moving towards the bottom end of the market.

opinions?

OH NO, now you know why i am not too fond of living in this area. this urge of getting naked is becoming bigger by the minute :yuk:

This reminds me of the new DVDs that Carmen Electra came out with. Its called Carmen Electra's Areobic Striptease. Its a workout but exotic dancing. At least its private and not posted!

i think its cool. too few women understand their sexuality because they are afraid of looking sl*tty. there is such a double standard in this culture, and there are so many girls who use sex for attention and validation and its sad. but a woman who is empowered by her sexuality is something completely different. its not like they are teaching women to go out and be strippers, theyre teaching women the art of seduction. its not like their forcing it down anyones throat. its a class you sign up for. anyway i even considered going to a strip club (and i HATE strip clubs) to get some tips but i think this is such a great idea.

anyway thats my take.

 thats why i dont watch tv anymore....its all stripping.

galleries laffyette now??? i cant believe a dept. store such as galleries lafyette would do such thing????

that would be like macy's or bloomingdales giving strip lessons

Stripping in one of the biggest department stores in the world??

I know given the love sex and nudity in fashion,I find it ironic(and moronic) one would impose such a course or class on people who go there to shop for clothes!

I bet this is run by either chauvinistic man or a p*rn actress.

I don't think it's a diss. I think they just don't have our puritan hangups. PR or not, many women did sign up for the class. ;)

they also think that showing off legs is demeaning to women

feminists suck..........they have issues about anything sexual

LMAO, just so you know, those classes are for those like me who just are not blessed to be that coordinated. So it's just something my poor husband has to do without.

Although I did find a link to a Stripping for Dummies article on the web, which I thought was funny as hell.

What I think would be fun is taking some belly dancing classes! I know they have it on tapes also.

 it was not my saying acid its from bbc :P

tealady, maybe women did not sign up for the strip tips but
Gallery Lafayette got free publicity all around the glove, voila.

i find young guys quite intinidated with sex crazed girls,
sometimes it has the wrong effect you know, better strip your own ways,
be creative you dont need a stripper to show you how to do this :P

That's retail! It's all about PR. That doesn't mean that this is an inappropriate thing to do. Why not learn to use lingerie to its best advantage? That's very French! :flower:

i honestly find this vile, sorry they should find something else to boost their sales

I just hate how so many people are trying to cash in on this, it's getting tiresome to the point where it's not empowering anymore- just cliche. I think it's riduculous that women have to take lessons on how to be seductive and take their clothes off. It's not rocket science!
