However, when one goes to school on a field . . . in CT . . . through bitter snow and sleet, it just isn't practical. What are some options that are both chic and can stand up to the elements? There has to be more to life than uggs!

La Canadienne boots are supposed to be good. I'm considering getting a pair this winter. From the few pairs I've found in stores, they seem to be reasonably priced too (well, compared to my last Manolo purchase, anyway).

Some look more snow and ice worthy than others, I'm gonna avoid the ones with the little heels. There have been days when I couldn't even walk to school wearing sneakers without falling, I'd better get something really practical.

Sadly, I actually don't mind the 'new' uggs, and they're not popular enough for people to recognize them as such. I just don't know if I could just give up my dignity like that after resiting the ugg for so long.

i second what gurrlll said about canadienne boots. they are the best! so warm and gorgeous! whenever i wear mine, i get tons of compliments. so they are totally worth it!

i find it every hard to find some warm winter boots
yet femminine and cute. The many boots I have seen so far look very mainly, which because I am petit, make me feel like a little boy....not sexy
