Big Apple loves Tahnee Atkinson's curves
news.com.auIT’S only her third month in New York, but Tahnee Atkinson has already captured the attention of some of the world’s most iconic brands.
Sports Illustrated magazine called her in to a casting last month and now Victoria’s Secret has come knocking, with a casting booked for Wednesday.
The news prompted a call to her mother, Jane, in Perth.
"It was funny, my mum said, ‘That’s why they’re dropping Miranda Kerr, they’re going to get you’. She was being funny like parents are. But it’s still early days. Even just the opportunity to cast for them is really big for me.’’
Atkinson, who is now signed with Claudia Schiffer’s agency One Management, defied critics who criticised her size 10 frame when she won Australia’s Next Top Model in 2009. But it’s her voluptuous curves that have seen her flourish in New York.
"There’s so much work here and I’ve been overwhelmed by the amount of clients that are looking for girls like me, rather than just the typical model,’’ Atkinson said.
