TAO Comme des Garçons S/S 09 Paris

even though its not as strong nor stellar as her previous autumn, there are certainly some stellar pieces in it. i mean those military uniform-inspired pieces are just beautiful and quirky. and some of her signature elements are as equally lovely. even the skirts and equestrian leggings with the stitches and tassels....i love.

shirlee - i think that your perception of the skirt length is a cultural thing...
*it;'s dowdy housewife to you...as you say..

but i see japanese women wearing skirts that length with flat shoes and looking super cool...without a whif of that housewife thing...
it's maybe dowdy...but it;s dowdy chic..in the same way that prada sometimes is...

i really believe that it is often a matter of cultural references which guide our individual perspectives...

frankly...i am with you...and often find the fabric laden skirts that are common to the cdg universe to be a bit difficult to carry...
but personally...
i find a circle skirt (a la comme) easier for most women to pull off than a fishtail ( a la junya)...

and i think that the narrow knickerbocker pants in this collection are actually really adorable and fun!...not really challenging in any way...

i agree with you mullet - the organza pieces are the ones which capture my attention most...
with the striped pieces coming in second...

florals are always going to be a hard sell with me...
*now THAT is what reads dowdy housewife to ME...
:p

this is lovely...some really cool little pieces:p....i agree in a way with scott that its not such an overtly strong 'show' but to me it looks like a stronger collection.....love all the blueB)!

^^softgrey - you would look great in the florals.....they look cool! not housewifey

Well after 2 seasons I'm starting to like again Comme...
This collection is interesting. there are some pieces incredible.

^ no, it's by Tao Kurihara :flower: her line is a sub label of CdG.

Ah...that's what I thought. Thanx for the info. Beautiful collection nevertheless. Just can't get over the colour Blue.

Meh to the buckingham palace reference. I don't know, this looks very tired, very mainline H&M.

oh, after a magical FW collection, this is a let down for me...it feels clumsy and uninspiring in places. Thank god for the some of the sheer pieces that were standouts

i love all of this a lot more in the close-ups than the regular pics...which makes me believe that there's something 'off' from below the knee because when i look at the full length pics i find the whole outfit irritating. :p maybe it's the socks, shoes, whatever...

anyway...some great stuff here...thanks for posting

really admire the playfulness of the pattern cuttings..
like 'variations on a theme' of the straps with buttons
the placement,
the angle, what the strap can do -gather fabric or border it, etc.

sure feeling of military in eccentric england

thank you for all the photos !
