Tara Subkoff plans collection for Bebe, diffusion line and selling Imitation of Christ

Didn't Tara periodically post here? Maybe she can give us some insight on her new business venture if she's still around.

(Or did we decide it was an imposter? I can't remember!)

At first, I cringed ever so slightly in mock horror thinking "why Bebe"??

But after seeing those two last dresses, I actually rather quite like it. I dont know if it's the angles, the model, her posture, or what, but that black dress = HAWTTTT

I checked out the line today it was out at my bebe....anywho overpriced and looked like everything else in bebe...the materials felt horrible i personally wasnt feeling it at all.

^Overpriced? I think the dress is only $119 which is a great deal for a dress like that! But I do agree that it looks very BeBe and fits in with the line. People who think BeBe is ALL club wear or track pants with studs obviously don't know much about the brand!

I think generally i meant overpriced for what it was...but i guess that entire store is overpriced for what it is

i tried on the black ruffle wrap dress and it was just TOO ruffley. i think it would work on someone tall and amazonian. just not me.

i also tried on the short 4 tier ruffle dress, but it was just too large in the boob area to warrant purchasing.

the red heart bag hasnt made it into stores yet. that is something id really like to take a look at.

excerpt from wwd
"Because we did one-of-a-kind for so long, it doesn't make sense for a company in terms of a business strategy to look at numbers — they have to look at what it is worth in terms of being known," she said.

good luck with that. :innocent:

according to a gossip piece in the NY post: Tara wishes she had the line back...

-- TARA Subkoff lost her clout with the Hollywood elite when she sold her Imitation of Christ fashion brand - and she wants it back. In 2006, Subkoff sold the then-financially troubled company to Australian powerhouse Josh Sparks, who ran Sass & Bide. Since then, Imitation of Christ has stabilized and resurrected itself with the A-list, including Nicole Kidman, Cindy Crawford and Petra Nemcova. Sparks' success is galling to Subkoff, especially recent talk of a lucrative fragrance deal.
