Tatler October 2019 : Liv Tyler by Jack Waterlot

Liv is gorgeous but that's the worst shot I've ever seen of her. It minimises every aspect of what makes her beautiful and maximises every feature in a way that doesn't make her look good at all.

Oh my God. I wasn't expecting this. I was expecting a harmonic countryside photo of Liv wearing minimal makeup and having her hair let down. This is interesting though. As if their theme was a evil fairy who discovered botox. There are way too many texts as well...

I wonder how Vogue feel about these covers which consistently rival theirs. To me this could easily be an EE cover. The subjects may not be the most in-demand, but the production value is top notch.

Don't like the floral swimcap, but I think the angle and composition looks great. The pink sort of liven the entire thing up.

Is she on a press tour for something...? What's with all the features?

I've only seen her ads for that Turkish resort. Didn't know that she had other press going.

I uses to be somewhat proud to like Liv. She was great in Stealing Beauty, and unlike the other 'rock royalty' daughters actually tried to have a career of her own. It's just the past few years where her sort of popularity took a bit of a slide.

I think she's a brand ambassador for Triumph lingerie as well.

Isn't she also in a sci-fi movie that's about to be released - Ad Astra?

Christy by Patrick, Gwen Stefani on the cover of Bazaar... we've seen this big rose hat one too many times for it to have any impact whatsoever. Not a fan of the cover either

Lol Ben I can't believe (actually, i can) you wrote their covers constantly rival Edward's. This, to me, is the PERFECT example of just how good of an editor Edward is, he would never publish this shot. In comparison to his covers this looks like a pardoy actually, shocked it's an actual cover. So try hard to get in on the Vogue bandwagon!

I mean has Liv Tyler, EVER looked this bad? One of the most beautiful women out there, and they turn her into Rosalind Russell/Aunt Mame nightmare!!!!

Oh and, imagine having a career for almost 30 years, and basically being downagraded as an association to The Beckhams, hate everything about this!

Ouch. What on Earth have they done to her? She looks plastic fantastic here, the retouching work is extreme. It’s also not helped by just quite simply being an awful, awful image.

Well, I think we've established by now that I don't hold him to the same standards as you do, but even that aside, my comment was meant more as a compliment than an insult. Dennen's Tatler, from cover to cover, is as directional as Vogue imo.
This cover is bad, no two ways about that, but Tatler before him isn't that distant a memory for me. And when I think back of all the doodled Royal covers, the random society girls who most of us wouldn't know from Adam, and art direction which nearly changed from issue to issue, it doesn't come close to this.
