I agree with sleepingbeauty13 - that is NOT a double negative, and I couldn't care less is more correct than could, because could is only correct if used sarcastically, which lots of people dont know.

You are right about not using double negatives, but less is a quantity adverb not a negative adverb. So is not a double negative.
I think both are correct if you are using I could care less in a sarcastic way, like it says in mundodabolsa's post, but I couldn't care less is also correct.

Agreed. It's "I couldn't care less".

Just let's imagine a scale from 10 to 0:

10 = you care a LOT about smth.
0 = you don't give a damn about it

So, at "0", you can say of course that you "couldn't care less", since the scale doesn't include negative numbers...
