Teach me your language I teach you mine

That's absolutely normal, it's always like that in the first stage of learning a language...the second stage begins when one starts interiorising...;)
And by the way then it becomes simpler to speak, 'cause phrases and expressions come natural without needing to translate every single word...:flower:

Thanks! That's really encouraging! :flower:

Pasha, I need to ask you what may be a ridiculous question. Is pasta or pizza more popular in Italy (Italy in general)? Believe it or not, this is a contest question.

Mmm...nice question..^_^ (my 2 faves...:p).
Ok, let's say this: pasta is easier to cook, while on the other hand to cook a decent pizza you'd need a proper oven, that can go up to 350°C and more (normally home ovens only reach 250°C, many even less than that), so I'd say that pasta is more popular since everybody can cook it at home; but on the other hand in every town there are dozens of "pizzerie" (= pizza restaurants - and I don't mean fast food chains like "Spizzico", I mean REAL restaurants where you can go and eat a real pizza) and there you can still enjoy a good pizza with beer for less than 10 euros, so pizza is definetely popular too...;) :flower:

p.s.
Here's a sample of how a real italian pizza should look like:

Now, that one is a bit poorly done - you can see that the cooker was in a hurry and didn't pay too much attention on where he was putting the mozzarella-cheese :p nor on constantly turning the pizza inside the oven so as to avoid that the lower margin overcooked as it did :innocent: - but it's anyway a real pizza...;)

^Yes I think he should've payed more attention to what he was doing, I mean, it's just unacceptable! :judge:

... :lol::rofl:

you can tell that my french exams are approaching by the amount of times I've spammed this thread with random french questions recently

could someone tell me how to say "I will take maths, biology and chemistry because my (damn.... miss that out  ) parents (*cough* have forced me*cough*) want to me to take it, but I will take art and photography because I have an interest in them"?

So far I've only got "Je prendrai les mathematiques (sp? horrendously wrong I know -_-), la chimie et la biologie parce-que mes parents me veulent faire, mais je prendrai le dessin et le photographie parce-que je les adore et je m'interesse......" don't know how to say the rest and please please feel free to correct what I've done so far as it is probably horrendously wrong!....

(you guys should hear me speak french, with my chinese-turned-english-turned-french accent, it almost makes me sound Indian  )

Anyway, about that phrase, I'd translate it i.e. as:

"Je vais étudier mathématique, biologie et chimie parce que mes parents le veulent, mais je vais étudier déssin et photographie car j'adore ça"

;)

But believe me, I've been a pizza-cooker for a while many years ago, and I can tell that pizza was done in a hurry...

Thanks Pasha!!!! Pasha the Pizza expert. Hey can you twirl the pizza base like how I see on tv? And I have the sudden urge to go have pizza now! BTW, I hate pizza with too many toppings.
