yep! in france do you guys just say "chips"? i had to say "croustille" to my cousin from nantes because she couldn't understand "chips". i usually say "chips" when speaking, but in my texts i write "croustilles". here it's a correct term.

your cousin from Nantes says croustilles???!!! never heard, that. i guess it's sthg from the locals... for instance in South (where i do my studies) people say "chocolatine" instead of "pain au chocolat"... my first time in a boulangerie was a real fun/embarassed moment in south...
