I'm doing a research about fashion for teens to 25 yrs old girls. I so far found...

- Clarendon NYC
- Junk Food Clothing
- John Eshaya T's

Does anybody know any others? I'm looking at this coming summer 2005...

Welcome to tFS, Ken!!

I'd like to help, but I don't really understand what you're looking for... Can you be more specific?

I'm so sorry about my English. I'd just like to know what kind of clothes will young girls get in this summer. I guess girls around 15 to 25 years old are very picky and sensitive about trend and I'm wondering what will be the trend for these people...

look everywhere around you.. get inspirations from catwalks, magazines etc.

Its all around you!

You should not really say 15 to 35, cuz that is a really long way, style vise. Even from 15-17 girl change a lot in the way they dress etc.

But what is it that you are really after?

The target I'm looking at is... I would say 18 years old to 25 years old, mostly college students. Most of girls at this age are trying to catch up with what celebrities are wearing, right? I was doing a research on Paris Hilton, Britney Spears, Jessica Alba, etc... As you can see from my English, I'm not so familiar with this US culture and... does anybody know what magazine or media can be good to proceed this research?

Sohoxchic> Could you give me a website address of Boho?

Hi Ken -

Boho is a style of clothing, not an actual store. Think Sienna Miller for boho chic. Gypsy skirts, studded belts, crocheted tops, wooden bangles and beads, etc. A very natural look.

Here are some US websites that are popular w/ the college set -

www.urbanoutfitters.com
www.abercrombieandfitch.com
www.girlshop.com
www.laredoute.com

Some style icons to keep in mind. These all have a thread dedicated to them in star style for ideas -

Sienna Miller
Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen
Nicole Richie

I believe it depends on the person. ;) :flower:

I beg to differ, young women are not picky and sensitive about trend, there will be no one trend. Boho is big yes but i am kind of annoyed that you want to catergorise us 15-25yrs. Most people have a unique style so you should think about different ranges of trends. Plus your ages are silly alot of 15yr olds would not wear what 25yr olds would. I don't mean to be rude but i think your going about this in the wrong frame! Again not trying to be nasty.
Evie x

Also i find it unbelievable that someone doing something on fashion would think BOHO was a shop, not a style!

Woah Emmy, simmer down girlfriend - obviously Ken is LEARNING about this particular topic, and he came to all of us for assistance. Let's be open minded and helpful dear... :flower:

I agree with the general sentiment that it's going to be extremely difficult to pigeonhole women's fashion based on those age ranges. I'm 25, and for me it's a constant struggle to find clothing that isn't too youthful and isn't too matronly. I'm at a point in my life were I'm finally coming into my own - fashion wise - something I wasn't really doing in my teens and early 20s. At this point, I couldn't care less about trends; I'm more concerned with what looks good on me, and what my style conveys.

Ken, exactly why are you studying trends? Is it for a class? This info would be helpful in directing responses. We might even be able to help you refine your thesis is necessary. Best of luck :flower:

no need to be rude guys :)

hipkitten, i totally agree with you. i'm also 25 and sometimes it's hard to find things that i think convey my age and maturity without making me look dowdy. even when i was 15 i didn't want to shop at wet seal or forever 21 (i have never even been in that store!), so it's been an ongoing struggle to find things that are timeless and also stylish. finding things that look outstanding on me is really hard because i'm really short, but to be quite honest, sometimes i find really amazing clothes in the kids' department! :D

ken, i think your age range is really broad, and that might make it difficult. if you are located in los angeles, that is a really good place to start to people-watch and get some ideas. (you probably shouldn't hang out at highschools though! :) )if you narrowed it down to maybe 2 or 3 catagories, maybe the highschool set (15-17 or 18) and then maybe 18-22 and then 22-25, you might have better luck getting a 'definition' or 'category' or whatever it is you're looking for. good luck though! :)

You all are right about the age groups. Personally, as a graduate student who is 24 years old, I'm really into looking polished but sexy. For example, today I have on trouser pants with a fitted lacy camisole (sexy) paired with a Kate Spade bag (such classic shapes) and spectator style shoes. However, I think someone a little younger (like the UG's - undergrads- on campus) would probably prefer a miniskirt to the pants and a logo bag to Kate Spade.

Francesca and Hipkitten - to convey age and maturity and still look sassy try pieces from The Limited or J Crew. I always find really great skirts, pants, and jackets at both of those stores.

^ thanks, i like some of their stuff, but i find both j.crew and the limited are totally not my style...they're kind of too bland for me. i'm a little more unique in my style choices. sometimes they have interesting things, but for the most part i'm not taken by their stuff. but thanks so much for thinking of us! :)

I'm really appreciated everybody's help. I'm a student and taking this "Fashion Trends and Design" class. My relative is running several clothing stores and this is kind of why I'm taking this class. According to what everybody told me, it seems like how US trend is kind of different from the one in my country. The reason why I picked this range of age is... in my country, most of girls in this range are wearing same kind of clothings. Generally, 15-20 years old girls first finds something new style or brand. Then, 18-25 years old girls are bassically catching up with it later. I was reading this article about surf brand "Quicksilver". This brand came out long time ago, but first it gets popular in teenage surfers. These guys are checking surf magazine and media, so that they're the first to recognize what foreign famous surfers are wearing, such as Kelly Slater. These teenagers go to city by wearing Quicksilver, so that other boys and girls are inspired by the design. Not now, but until couple of years ago, there were so many people wearing Quicksilver and Roxy. This may sound weird, but my people tend to be focused on one brand for certain period of time, then all of the sudden, they atop wearing because so many people are wearing same stuff. By the way, current trend in my country is called "Celebrity Style", which is simply... wear like how celebrity wears. Japanese girls are looking at Briteny Spears, Spice Girls: Victoria. Followings are reply to each one of you....

Curious> Thank you for your reply. Figuring out who is the current style icon was part of my subject and was very helpful. About the Abercrombie & Fitch, as I stated above, my uncle has a store in Japan and sent him a lot of A&F clothings as a merchandise. I'm still trying to figure out what Boho style means, but is A&F in this category?

Emmy> First, I'm sorry about my misunderstanding and lack of knowledge. I really do understand what you're trying to say. About the range of age I'm looking at, it may be a bit big to classify these people in one group, but I think I can simply put them as a collge people. I would say their budget isn't as big as older than them, but will try to get trends. I'm saying girls around this age is the most trend flexible people in all humans. I'm not sure about this... so may be wrong...

Hipkitten> Thank you for your reply. As you mentioned, my thesis is... not right yet. The way I classify people may be wrong. Who do you think the most trend-sensitive people? What I can think is... teens and early 20s are Ok to wear what trend is and... after that people will start figuring out what would look the best for yourself...

i think you should probably focus on teens 14-18 and people in their twenties. they seem to be the most trend conscious.

^ I agree w/ that. 14 - 18 are the most trend-conscious. And then the college set is probably the second most, so 18-22 for that.

To get an idea for Boho - I would check out the threads of the above stars I mentioned in the Star Style section. They are all participating in the boho trend right now and the stores are sort of following that.

I would say A&F is more of a preppy style, not boho. Polos, button downs and such. They carry a lot of casual clothes that are popular w/ college students. Mainly because they're comfortable for class.

I can't really think of a US store site that is mostly boho right now. If the region doesn't matter, then you may want to check out www.topshop.co.uk. They have a lot of items I would classify as boho.

Hope that helps :)
