tFS mix tape/cd project!

 I'm so so so happy it's like christmas eve really... though at the same time I feel really guilty  , and with all right allso...

First of all I want to say thousend thanks to :flower: sarah, (cosette) for sending me this absolutely super cute mix.

I am kind of picky with music, and thought at first that it wasnt my cup of tea, but it was really lovely, and i'm gonna listen to it one time more before I fall asleep. (23:09 here)

+ look what a lovely cover

Second of all I feel kind of awful cause I havn't sent my mix yet (september one), and since cosettes tape to me took like over two weeks to be sent, this must mean that even if I send my mix tomorrow, it will still be far far much too late.
And I'm really sorry for this... It's just everything been so much lately and i've constantly been under a lot of stress.
I'm really really gonna send my mix tomorrow though, i promise

xx johanna

in sweden all kids get their presents on christmas eve not christmas day... thats why i wrote christmas eve... ----> sorry for being silly, but just so noone missunderstands.

tigermilk I'm so glad you received it! Whew! And... did I seriously forget to write which Velvet Underground song it is?! Oh my  whoops.

fugfashion!! i'm so glad you like it! you got almost all the song titles right, but the one by kill me tomorrow is called liason. it's so weird that we have the same handwriting! oh and i forgot to write my disclaimer that quixotic is on there twice because the first one is a cover song so i decided it didn't count. :innocent:

ahh, and i've been totally a bad partner, worrying bleufunk so. i'm sorry!! this is the play list of the mix he wrote down.

the robot ate me//on vacation
the glands//swim
stars//ageless beauty
the eels//rotten world blues
david bowie//what in the world

the hollies//everything is sunshine
fiona apple//waltz (better than fire)
m. ward//paul's song

so that's not really the music i am into (no offense to anyone who is)...and i've been super busy...so i hadn't played the cd. but today i thought, i better give it a chance and at least listen to the bands i hadn't heard of. and you know what?? HE TOTALLY TRICKED ME!!!!!!
this is the playlist of the cd he sent...

edit: my husband told me to fess up, i took the cd out of the trash bin in my room to play it. yes, you got me. you got me good.

Oh no sea of stitches, now we're all going to think the reason we haven't heard from our people is because they got the mixes but dumped them! :ninja:

That was quite the risk you took, bleu :woot:

^this year i've had at least two packages lost in the mail. maybe everyone's postmen/women are secretly enjoying people's mixes! but hmm, yeah, it's hard for me to say outright that i just don't like something. so i'd rather just forget about it. which in general is a bad idea anyway. i guess i've learned my lesson. anyway, seriously, back to studying for me. i do hope everyone gets their mixes soon enough though. :lucky:

Not as confused as me! The mix i wrote down was the mix i sent. I couldn't even make the mix you listed if i had wanted to.

And also, unless i'm misunderstanding the purpose of this, i intentionally put things on that might be outside your daily listening perusal. I very purposely went outside the genres listed as preferred. I would hope that everyone would at least listen to the mixes with an open mind. I mean, even Blue Oyster Cult had one good song.

I'd rather hear that you listened to it and thought it was crap than not hearing anything and just assuming you thought it was crap.

Wow. I'm a bit lost myself. Where did that new CD come from, then?

I already got my October "Seasons" themed mix from johnnykenton (My,you are an early bird.:p )

Thanks a lot Johnny ^_^ :flower:

It's interesting how we both used two of the same songs for our mixes though

sorry everyone, i think my computer confused me; the playlist that i thought was yours was misery loves company v/a comp by ersatz audio...i don't know how it got on my playlist instead of your cd bleufunk but my guess is that i'm not very adept at the audio playing program i have. i will listen to the cd as soon as possible bleufunk (my husband has to explain everything to me regarding the computer. it's running on linux).
sure i think mixes are good to introduce new things to people, but i also think it's good to cater it somewhat to what they like already. to be fair, i have heard many of the bands on your cd and the only one i really enjoy is david bowie. i hope you aren't too offended. i did put it into my computer thinking i would listen to the bands i hadn't heard before. i'm really sorry, bleufunk, for the mixup.

aw. i sent it right away because i was extremely excited. :D

i'm glad it got to you safely.

which two songs did you use as well sephora_socialite?
-some were specifically season/weather, but other songs were current favorites that remind me of an awkward climate/feeling, emotions, etc.

that is too funny.
I love that story.
Hey thats a really good comp though (the one on your computer).
Magas rules (I actualy like him better the adult.)

and as far as listening to mixes you may not think you like, there is true in that. I like all kinds of good and bad music. sometimes stuff I cant stand I start to like after a while (sophmore year in hs I was in germany and had to hang out with a couple of german dudes that LOVED Foreigner after a while I sort of enjoyed them too) ... but sometimes, I just dont like it more, and wish it would go away.
but I still wonder if Wyth got my mix I so lovingly sent him?????

(I like the eels too and david Bowie is ok I guess, sometimes ;))

^aww, i'm glad you find it funny! i am trying to laugh it off but i feel bad (specifically dumb/juvenile)... i really hope mr. bleufunk isn't too upset with me. i can't say i was completely wrong, but i've learned my lesson. i honestly enjoyed the fiona apple (!), m.ward and innocence mission songs. thanks for sharing them with me bleufunk.

No, i'm not upset but i'm not happy either. It is what it is. When i got the list of bands you were interested in, i was discouraged. I'm not really into electronica, etc. So at first i tried to go through what i do have that might fit into your scheme of things. But then i realised that any mix i make for you that caters to your tastes is going to be half-***ed compared to a mix that you could just make for yourself. So then i decided to make a mix of fun songs i like that you might not have heard. For the better known bands on there, i tried to include b-sides and non-album tracks. So a band like Wilco, you may have preconceived notions about blah, blah, blah but you probably haven't heard them do a bouncy song geared for kids. Etc, etc.

I just received the loveliest mix from Rachel (nr9dream)!! :woot:

Seriously... wow... first of all - bubble wrap! It's wrapped with bubble wrap! That alone made my day brighter.^_^ Secondly, ah, you know, I wish I could take pictures of it because I just can't put into words how beautiful the booklet she made is... however we don't have any more batteries for my digital camera :( Nonetheless, I will take pictures once I do get more!

This is the tracklist...

01. l'Aigle Noir - Barbara
02. Night of the Swallow - Kate Bush
03. Secret Language of Birds - Ian Anderson
** this is where I'm at in the CD now... AMAZING so far! I've never heard Kate Bush before this - her voice :woot: and Ian Anderson is AMAZING... this song... AH...
04. Cat Interlude... Feed the Cat - Agent K
05. King of the Mountain - Kate Bush
06. Wonders Never Cease - Morcheeba
07. Kin Sapalot - le Peuple de l'Herbe
08. Shataraban - Serge Teyssot-Gay
09. La Guitaristic House Organisation - Rinocerose
10. Les histoires d'A - les Rita Mitsouko
11. 21th Century Show - Earth & Fire
12. Tu fais Partie de Passe - ZouZou
13. La Forme et le Fond - Keren Ann
14. Erik Satie: Six Gnossiennes - Anna Queffellec

So, what I've heard so far - wonderful!! And the only ones I recognize are Morcheeba, Earth & Fire, and Keren Ann, but I've not heard enough material by any of them to know what they sound like... so all in all... just, wow.

Thank you!

Cosette, so glad it got there safely :flower:

...Kate Bush is on 2x because King of the Mountain is her new single (after 12 years!!) and while not my fav. I thought it would be nice to have if you didn’t already...glad you like it so far!

wow it's like christmas in here! so many mixes this past few days! :woot:

i got 2 today! (i was out of town for a few days and they were both waiting for me!) from anna karina and goosemaster! goose's doesn't have a tracklist so i will be emailing him for that soon..i haven't listented to either yet (literally just walked in the door) but anna's looks amazing. i'm so excited!

sea of stitches, i can understand that you weren't sure you'd like the cd, but i really can't believe you threw it away! i asked you guys to put your preferences down so we'd have a general idea, but like i said, my intention with this was to have everyone learn about and hear different music from what they're used to. if you guys aren't comfortable with that, let me know and i'll give you guys matches who listen to the exact same music and you can get mixes with stuff you already know.
