The 2008 Summer Olympics : Beijing, China

Im very happy for the brazilian volleyball, specially the women's,they have been perfect in all games. In particular Mari and Fabi in the women's and André Heller and Giba in the men's are amazing! Can't wait for the women's final tomorrow!

Congrats César Cielo and Maureen Maggi!!

Im so addicted to the oympics I don't want it to end up this sunday!!

^same here. i love giba and andre heller too. can't wait for the volleyball finals.

The US basketball team won today; they were playing against Argentina. Even though i'd have loved to see them loose -:innocent: - congrats to them!

Now i cannot wait for Argentina's next soccer game against Nigeria. It's our last hope for another gold medal!

^^Either way it doesn't look good; how can they be trusted? For the National Games wouldn't she have had to have official documentation too? So, I mean, in regards to trust, if they did it for the National Games, then it only weakens their credibility, even if they didn't do it for this Olympics.

And hasn't it happened before with China in the Olympics? (Other countries too). I read there was a Chinese gymnast who won bronze medals at the Sydney Olympics, who later admitted that she was only 14 at the time. She would obviously have had to have provided official documentation/passport in Sydney, which, if she really was only 14, would have been tampered with by the government.

It's frustrating that nothing can actually be done.

No one is going to dare penalize China for it. And the Chinese government is not beyond forging passports or birth certificates. I have no doubt that some ages were faked.

My brother said that confirming the girls were underage in China is going to be a long process. I think it might be resolved far after the Olympics is over.

i must say, the hostesses at these olympics looked very fit indeed, especially the ones at the gymnastics and swimming competitions. very nice china...

So pleased Jamaica won the relay, now Asafa has a medal. yay! I hope James DeGale manages to get the gold tomorrow in the boxing. *fingers crossed*

I know I'm late but I'm so happy for Steve Hooker and his gold in the pole vault
He is sooo cool that kid!

*hi 5!* :D So am I! I refused to turn off the TV last night even when it was bordering on 1 in the morning.. I had to see Steve Hooker do his jump! Mum and dad were a bit skeptical of him clearing it, because his first two for 5.90 weren't that great compared to Yevgeny Lukyanenko, whos first and third clearances were pretty darn good, cept that he clipped it with his hand first time and then his chest! If I was judge, they'd both get gold for flinging themselves up so high! (Many more people would have gotten gold if gold medal were decided by me :woot:.. wishful thinking!!)

The Olympics is about awarding the best athletes in the world. If they happen to be 14 then they deserve to win the gold.

This investigation is just going to be blown out of proportion and it will be going on for months. -_-

i agree. if they never made an age limit or the age limit of 14 no one would really care. i think many elite sports can be dangerous. even if they arent going to the Olympics, these athletes are still performing the same type of routines. i feel bad for the girls because i think a lot of them peak younger than the age 16 rule for Olympics and by the time they are old enough they get injured like right/during the Trials. annddd i feel awful if the medals(of ANY color) are taken away from the Chinese team because they earned them. i know there were problems with judging but it could have been in anyone's 'favor' so i dont blame the gymnasts for doing their best! (i honestly cant imagine anyone turning down a medal even if they werent from China :innocent:)

I dont mind if 14 year olds are allowed in the Olympics, but it isnt fair for other 14 year olds who would of been in the olympics but were told "no" because of their age, every country is suppose to obey to this rule. I dont think she should be able to receive a pass on it, just because she got this far without being caught. But she may be 16 for all we know really. Thats just my opinion of course

I was watching coverage and they were playing the orchestral string instrumental intro of Hong Kong Garden as seen on the film, Marie Antoinette. :D

It was the best game ever for the Dutch women hockey team! I am really glad they won! ^_^ Not forgetting the waterpolo team won gold too :D This summer Olympics, the Dutch women scored so much better then the men!
The Netherlands are standing at rank 10! that's not bad at all! :flower:

I was shocked to see Jamaica being clumsy at the 4x100m relay women :o
Usain Bolt is my hero! and I'll bet he can go faster if he wants to

^ I guess they are best at competing alone. ^_^

Zhou LuXin! Australia's Mitcham did really well, gotta give him credits for that.
And congrats to Belgium's Tia! Her coach did not have any expression on his face until she cleared 2.05m.
