It's only when you're watching the live feed that you realise there are so many normal-looking people attending this event, who look like they can't wait for their red carpet ordeal to be over, rushing off as soon as they can. As well as the lesser-known, with the indignity of being moved on.

Emma Stone in Louis Vuitton:

Florence Pugh in Del Core:

Ariana Grande in Giambattista Valli:

Luptia Nyong’o in Giorgio Armani Privé:

Anya Taylor-Joy in Christian Dior:

Margot Robbie in Versace:

Zendaya in Giorgio Armani Privé:

Michelle Yeoh in Balenciaga:

Everyone's wearing some seriously fugly dresses... it's a bit Country Music Awards meets the Grammys.. and I don't know why but Ariana Grande's image always cheapens events..

Even the ones who dress great in candids (Anya Taylor Joy, Jennifer Lawrence) went with Marchesa-type of stuff to almost blend into a wall. And don't get me started on Florence.. who's still on this catharsis that was either triggered by online criticism of her body or the realisation of having crossed a groomer. I understand she wants extra empowerment and to give the middle finger to public image and Hollywood expectations and that's all cool but it just screams unmanaged anger/28 going on 13/Pink complex.

The only actress who seems dressed like a proper movie star and probably because she attend the ceremonies from back in the day, is Charlize Theron.

Also, on the topic of fashion being in a terrible state right now, and well-represented by the fraction of pop culture that this event represents and how weak the role of fashion design is at the moment: the straps on Emily Blunt's dress are such a small but huge symbol of the inferiority and short-sightedness of most designers right now.. challenging garments not in relation to women, how we carry ourselves for different once-in-a-lifetime moments or anything remotely well-thought, but from a smug, superficial standpoint that has no interest in studying the person wearing it and in this particular case, that is literally separate and ‘rising’ above her.

Tbh I loveedddd Zendaya! I really like how crazy that fabric is and how it's been treated. And I started to like Michelle Yeoh's but only thing is I just can't get past anything Demna. It immediately turns me off seeing the logo and remnants of that dress dragging like we been f*cking get it... you aren't smart or clever or anything. God I can just picture his smug *** face thinking he did something reducing his 1 dimensional understanding of Margiela down to the most ******** form it could possibly be.

Anyways my fr fav was Rita Moreno lol that gown makes her look so lively and graceful!

AND YES Mullet all ugly. 100% agree on Emily Blunt. And *anything* that has to do with Daniel Roseberry. It's like an adult version of a child getting that new shiny trendy toy from a tv commercial and being like "look look look what I got!" But that is a direct reflection of where everyone's at today. It's all so fast and impersonal. Like prostitution.

Looking through the red carpet photos, you'd think it was a hotel opening in Las Vegas. B-list and tacky.

horrible fashion, horrible winners. the zone of interest and anatomy of a fall should've won many of the awards they were up for. they were the true best films of the year.

Greta Lee in Loewe:

Carey Mulligan in Balenciaga:

Jennifer Lawrence in Christian Dior:

I looked through the whole red carpet and this year was actually interesting.

Jennifer Lawrence looks 30 years her senior in this dress, but 40 years ago. What the hell even is that? MGC should be ashamed of herself. I read somewhere that it took 1500 hours to make, but like....are the 1500 hours in the room with us? Christ.

Love Zendaya, proper 2024 screen siren if you ask me.

Are those straps deliberate? The straps on Florence Pugh's dress have the same 'lift'.
It looks like a nonsense trend coming our way for 2025.

^ I hadn’t noticed that! it’s not even the same designer haha awkward. Not sure how Florence looked in motion but Emily’s dress from the side looked so bad..

Carey looks stunning. I loved the Balenciaga gown with gloves. Same for Sandra Huller (my favorite actress of the moment).

Lupita was also a vision! She really stood out when presenting her category.

I don't think Emma's dress was award winning (what happened when she accepted the award? C'mon...). Margot's look was also a huge let down (and she couldn't even sit properly for almost 4 hours).

Kudos to Justine Triet, who looked comfortable and chic!
