They are now going through their last cycle of students and then, they're out of there. Apparently, they weren't bringing in enough cash, as if charging upwards of $30,000 per program (and getting sh*tty courses in return) isn't enough cash.

They just sprung the news on us, out of nowhere! We got a letter in the mail saying they were no longer accepting students and we are going to be the last to graduate. Talk about unfair! The next day, all of the admissions counsellors are gone! I feel as though I am in a movie and have just been scammed by a team of cons led by Danny DeVito.

Meh. As soon as I get that piece of paper I'm off to continue at Parsons or FIT, hopefully.

Just thought I'd share the news.:flower:

Wow that sucks, my friend goes there for Fashion I think and she's barely completed her first year

I went to the school for like a week and that was enough for me.
Any other past students on the forum?

I didn't end up being a student
I did go to an interview and toured the school.. They seemed so pushy and scary I backed out ^^ Hopefully you can transfer the credits from that school to Parson's, FIT, etc. ? Hope they would accept them

Thanks for letting us know, sheselectric

that's so terrible i know this thread is a tad old but i was thinking of going to AI in NYC and i'm now a tad hesitant... i hope they're not closing as well

you poor hun :(

AI is based in the U.S. ...
I think the situation is completely different there
Seems to be a well recognized school
AI Seattle
& AI Chicago ...

Thanks :) I'm just super nervous about moving into the city is all... lol
I'm a big baby
I'm so scared because I don't know ANYONE and i'm from a small town in western ny so it's like a totally different world for me and I just hope AI is going to be a good school!

I didn't think the AI's were good schools...except maybe the one in SF? I get confused between all the names that sound the same. I mean it's a 'for profit' school so how good can it possibly be?

I just want to point out that the School of the Art Institute of Chicago is not affiliated with the "art institute" chain and is much more prestigious. :flower:

Certain schools in the chain are more highly regarded than others. The Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale and Miami International University of Art and Design are both decently regarded, at least in South Florida.

yes that is what I was thinking of. The school in Chicago and SF, though they have similar names (both having art and institute in them) they are fact entirely separate.

That's good to hear.. ^_^
The one in Chicago's known for their really awesome art gallery.. I'd love to go someday
They own original works by renowned artists
I guess the AI chains would probably not put the profits they make into galleries like that...

okay now i'm all nervous should i even consider the one in NYC? Or should I just check it off of my list completely?
