The Beat Generation

you're welcome all
yes, luxmode, ferlinghetti is great, my father corresponds with him sometimes because he is translating some of his poems...he is about 80 and still so active!

Wow! Yeah, he's definitely my favorite overall. I love I Am Waiting, Junkman's Obbligato and so many others. He's such an interesting man.

^

I am waiting
to get some intimations
of immortality
by recollecting my early childhood
and I am waiting
for the green mornings to come again
youth's dumb green fields to come again
and I am waiting
for some strains of unpremeditated art
to shake my typewriter
and I am waiting
for the last long careless rapture
and I am perpetually waiting
for the fleeing lovers on the Grecian Urn
to catch each other up at last
and embrace
and I am awaiting
perpetually and forever
a renaissance of wonder

that is so great!

apropos "funny face" i just rewatched it and it is so perfect!
everybody who is interested in fashion should watch it ten times:lol:

they did such a great job with the styling and photography...i love the colours and it has such weird scenes though it is a classic love story.

i think it did influence directors like spike jonze too.

and björk.

if you watch the "it's o so quiet" video-clip afterwards you'll see it with different eyes.

not necessarily beat but taken by photographer jerry stoll who seems to have had a lot to do with the beats... and i like the picture^_^

^Nice.

I'm glad you liked the poem...thanks for including part of it here.

William Burroughs' wife, Joan Vollmer...

Bizarrely... she died a victim of Burroughs' own bullets during a party game of 'William Tell'...

I can find no better photos... but I love what she's wearing here anyway...
