I have one by Lancome that's nice, but you don't really see the glitter until you're really up close. I want something more sparkly than that.. but at the same time, I don't want it to look like I've got sequins on my eyes, obviously. Anyone know a happy medium? Or if not black, a midnight blue or dark purple?

thx

You can try Mac's Black Tied eyeshadow, or you can mixing one of their black and silver pigments to get the look you want to acheive.

I used to have urban decay in oil slick. It looked amazing in the pit but the glitter didn't really show up on my eyes.

I was thinking Urban Decay too. They make good stuff for edgier looks and the pigments are pretty strong (and it's cheap!). I was gonna say mix something too if you don't find enough sparkle. I would use MAC eyeshadow in carbon as the color. You can actually color your eyelid in with black khol eyeliner first to make it stick and be more opaque and blend that together with a concealer brush.

Then once you have the black color you want add glitter. I also like Urban Decay heavy metal eye glitter in bootlegged. It's a bluish silver. Backstage is more true silver if you want that...

Thanks all  I think I'll check out Urban Decay next time I go to Sephora.

this is gross.. but victoria's secret has really good glittery eye shadow... i didn't buy any, but i put some on at the store. it goes on fairly smooth and it doesn't go on like cheap eye shadow.

MAC -

Seriously, I swear they have literally every colour of the universe with their colour ranges. You will most definetely find the best black glittery eyeshadow with Mac. You see, Mac have amazing ranges of colours and they are so richly pigmented so you can soften or intensify the colour.

You can never go wrong with Mac.

The NARS Night Series is my staple black eyeshadow go-to! Off the top of my head:
Night Clubbing - black with gold glitter
Night Flight - black with blue glitter
Night Fever - black with red glitter
Night Breed - black with silver glitter

I am waiting for an Hard Candy licorice eyeshadow at the moment, it´s a shimmery black and i can´t wait to try it!!! :D

Licorice (dark 'n delicious black)

I know MAC have a loose black pigment that has silver bits in it. I don't know the name of it off the top of my head but I use it when I want dramatic eyes with some sparkle.

How do you use black eyeshadow besides as an eyeliner? Can someone post pics of them wearing it? It sounds really cool.

I second the recommendation of the NARS Night series of shadows. They're the perfect glittery black shades. I find them to be much more pigmented than MAC's black eyeshadows.

you can use an angled brush to put the shadow around your eyes and then smudge it a bit.. i know that sounds completely vague hah sorry but its nice.

^^^
mac's 263 brush is ideal for this.

it's a mac store exclusive though, so you won't find it in mall counters for some reason.
