The Blush thread, all you need to know...

I have L'Oreal Pinch of Colour.

The thing about these liquid stains is that most of the ones I've seen are the same bright rosy color, so they don't work on everyone. It would be interesting to see a greater variety of colors (like, as many colors as powder blush comes in!) in stain formulations.

Hi!

This is something that puzzles me...can I layer different blushes?

I love liquid or gel like blushes (benetint or tarte) but I really need to use some loose powder on my face to "lock" concealer and zit coverage....

So...sometimes I put the tiniest layer of translucent powder on my cheeks (with a wedge of sponge) and then swipe some powder blush again on my cheeks.
Do you do the same? What do you do instead?

I´ve read about layering in mags ...let´s say some bronzing powder over benetinted cheeks but they never mention loose powder in beetween!

This really puzzles me because if I put powder blush over non powdered cheeks (let´s say somehow moist after gel or liquid blush) it gets messy and horrid.

Please point me some directions on this as I really looooove gel-liquid-creamy blush but I need my powder too

Go for it, as long as it doesn't get really thick and 'makeup-y' looking. Beauty isn't about "Can I?", it's about what you like and what makes you look great. I layer and blend products all of time, it makes them more versatile and you can achieve a more tailored look than just using things straight from the package. :flower:

I agree. There are no rules when it comes to makeup. Experiment and try different things, and whatever works best for you use that method. :)

I layer blush quite often, too. I usually start with a cream or a gel, then set it with a transparent powder, then layer a very light dusting of powder blush on top of that.

Good luck!

Of course you can! In fact, that's what a lot of artists suggest - it ads more depth, and it's hard to get that with just one shade or type of blush.

Go blush crazy :flower:

Thanks for the advice! :flower: :flower:

I´ll go ahead in my crazy blush addiction. You know I live in south america, and here not many women use blush...Here´s more like a tan addiction (even now in winter) people use allover bronzing powder or worse they go to tanning beds!!

The ideal down here is let´s say a "Baywatch" makeup: tanned face+lashes+lipliner+gloss. I dont like this look at alllllll. It is so dated!

I adore light make up and lots of blush on women.
I loooove blush on Sarah Jessica Parker in SATC, Liv Tyler, Stella Mc Cartney, Gisele, Kirsten Dunst, and many others. :woot:

If you feel like...post some pics of great blush...
I don´t know how to do post pics...

It sounds like a great idea. I often do it when I want color and then shine. I'll put the "base color" blush and then the powder for coverage and shine control in the t-zone. Then comes the shimmiery stuff.

i blend nars orgasm with mac irridecsent powder in golden bronze.

i layer shimmery cream blushes too :flower: ( pop glam jam, and sephora all over color work well......for layering! )

I layer blushes all the time. I use Tarte cheek stains, powder and then powder blush frequently-it gives the look more depth. I also use a powder bronzer with a baby pink blush on apples of cheeks-this is a pretty look.

OOH :woot:

the best cheek stain i've tried is tarte tickled peach cheek stain, very natural, blended easily and the color works great!

What brand/color/type of blush do you use? Do you use more than one at a time? Do you always wear the same blush or do you alternate between different ones? Which brands do you swear by? Is there a very obvious difference between high-end blushes and cheap drugstore ones, or is it ok to save some money if you can find the right shade?

I couldn't find any threads on blush at all. :P It just seemed wrong not to have one. Besides, I'm curious... :innocent:

i really like Armani powder & cream blushes. spendy, but really good. Sue Devitt makes some nice ones also--well-pigmented & very blendable. for drugstore stuff, i like Milani. cheap & still durable in the Honolulu heat.

imo, if you find a blush that works for you, stick w/it, regardless of price. what works for one, might not work on others.

I prefer powder blushes to cream.
My favourites are Armani and Cargo

On a normal day I use either this:

or Wet'n'Wild in Naive:

i alternate depending on what i'm wearing and/or my mood...
i use nars orgasm, this pink bourgois shade, and chanel in incognito...
i think i use the chanel one the most... it looks very natural and is a very easy-to-wear color...
creams just don't work on me at all. i probably just don't know how to apply it, but i just don't like spending a lot of time on makeup.
i've never tried the drugstore brands... i've heard good things about l'oreal, but i find that with most drugstore brands, they're not very well pigmened, but are still good if you want to experiment... i say splurge if it's going to be an everyday thing
