Hey all

Well we've all seen the dramatic black lipgloss on the latest catwalks, we also know that black seductive lips are no longer a goths-only privilege.

but I was wondering, do you think we'll ever see that dark elegant lipstick/lipgloss out on the streets other than at Halloween or Batcave parties?
as a makeup artist I doubt that, I normally do brides and evening makeup.

what do you think?

I think maybe a darker shade of red, always looks good in autumn/winter ^_^

At work in clubland I think I'll see it, as the central st martins lot that I see at my club always seem to push the boat out stylewise, but day to day on the street no, I don't think it'll be seen. It'll end up being watered down, like most catwalk styles, and it'll end up either being the traditional goth lipstick shade, black cherries by rimmel, or a dark red color. Personally, I love the trend, I think it's sumptuous!

At clinique there is something of a lipstick mixed with lipgloss called dark honey, the more u put on the darker it gets and its sooo soft on the lips!!!

The January issue of W magazine announced that Chanel has jumped on the bandwagon with three near-black lipsticks: Obscure, Maniac and Hysteria, in tones of brown-black, red-black and violet-black, respectively.

I believe solid black lipstick rarely looks good in the absence of dewy skin... Also, I prefer when it's glossy, and possibly space-age influenced... lots of silver and other metallics with that shot of glossy 'onyx' black would look nice. I've always had goth tendencies, but I've never loved (or don't remember loving) black lipstick in that context. It's too '14 years old', although I'm sure a few exceptions exist (in, you know, W photoshoots).

don't think I'll see this in everyday life in austria... But I have a MUFE solid black lippie at home so I might wear it one day :P, not to university though, too shocking for biz students...

I'm considering wearing black YSL gloss pur out to a club tomorrow night, but my friend has been horrified by the idea. I wondered if a pink lipstick base under the black might look good....

Also, how do you stop lip gloss bleeding? To get it as dark as I want I have to wear quite a bit, but it was slipping all over the place.

Try a barrier around the lips? I know B never too busy too be beautiful do one, but I have seen them that look like normal lipliners but clear as well.

Confession: I might have worn black lipstick today, with a navy CdG sleeveless shirt under a white tee, black Helmut Lang pants, ballet shoes and a navy silk scarf... and almost no other makeup. (Outfit descriptions can read so tediously, but I feel it's important to mention since it can make a world of difference.) It would have been almost tame without the lipstick, but I felt lazy after the careful application that the lipstick required. Don't know why the temptation finally overtook me, but I was probably the last to see it coming. :innocent:

I wore Lancôme Piha Black on its own and over Red MAC Pro Longwear color, it totally bleeds... but I love to 'line' my lips with black lipstick over bright red lips, kinda gothy, kinda glam result
