The Gentlewoman Spring / Summer 2013 : Beyonce by Alasdair McLellan

I'm rather shocked she was even an option for a cover shoot for the magazine to be honest, both from her camp's point of view and from the magazines, I wouldn't have thought she was at all their target market. That being said, I really like the image a lot. I like Beyonce when she's toned down and just allowed to be beautiful like this.

What a spectacular issue, goddamn. Flawless.

I'm not a Beyonce fan but, by general admission, she is a super successful, super established, black businesswoman (unfortunately, a rare occurrence in our times). I don't get why you folks don't get why she was an option for the cover.

^ i have nothing against beyonce, but considering how over exposed she is in the media, i wouldn't expect her to be in a magazine that so far has featured (minus adele, maybe, who's anyway less all-over-the-place than beyonce) interesting women you don't get to read a lot / everywhere (if any at all).

The irony if Terry Richardson is the photographer of Susan Sarandon's feature.

This is her most convincing cover to date. It seems authentic and not so artificial.

Also, Jeneil has the best body in the business. I mean good lord!

Great great great issue, ALL the pics are very good!!!

I think what makes her suited for this cover is the fact that unlike most pop stars she has always had that strong independent woman and also has that pro women stance in her work as well as being one of the most powerful women in entertainment and a cross over one at that

I'm so thrilled with this cover. Perhaps Beyonce isn't the typical women you expect to see on The Gentlewomen but I think she fits quite well into the magazine's story. Beyonce is, as Urban Stylin said, a strong independent women which is also the sort of women I think the magazine see's as its clientele. I love the way Alasdair captured her, the portrait is stunning. And I'm loving many of the other previews too, love seeing Maisie Williams from GoT in the pages of The Gentlewomen. First Michelle Dockery from a few months ago, now Maisie, the editors are really good at picking great women to feature!

she annoys me a lot but it is quite a pretty cover i guess

I'm a huge fan of the photos in the Gentlewoman and they never disappoint me this season either. Really love the natural and elegant mood each photo has. Beyonce's portraits are the most beautiful photos I've ever seen of hers. Not to mention Guinevere, Malgosia, Iselin, Jeneil, Saskia, etc. And even non-figure pics fascinate me--the lipsticks, and the herb :blush: I adore this mag.

It's a good cover but there's something off about it. The way her hands are placed, the tension in them, it just seems so affected and unnatural.

They couldn't have chosen a worst cover girl, well maybe Rhianna...

The photos are nice but nothing extraordinary, so many magazines decided to subvert the Beyonce bling, that this type of shoot with Beyonce is more ordinary than her true tacky persona.

So uninteresting. I'm really disappointed. I'll buy it anyway for the rest of the content.

Nadja and Saskia's editorials look interesting but aside from that everything seems so... stale.

The cover is gorgeous, nonetheless.

I'm not sure how a women who appears in a thong for GQ really makes sense as a covergirl for the Gentlewoman. Really disappointing.

i just love how The Gentlewoman always manages to get the best photographers to exhibit their minimalist take which i never tire off. however, Beyonce's overexposure is just exhausting, even if i do understand the magazine's decision in selecting her. if only i can blot off her feature in this issue this would be an excellent magazine for me, especially since the rest of the contents looks impeccable.
