Simply because there are some places (incl. where I live) where it doesn't get that warm in spring. So a leather jacket will be perfect for spring actually. It's still too cold to wear one now.

It doesnt always get that warm her in the spring but Id feel silly wearing a black leather biker jacket than... even though I love the look.

i love to wear it during cool spring/summer nights! But living in California there is noooo way I'd wear it in summer during the day..

^ ITA! the motorcycle basic style anyways. i got a kate moss for topshop first season one on ebay in the fall and it's one of my favorite pieces. it was inspired by the aesymetrical rick owens one...it's leather but not as rough edged as a lot of the leather jackets on the market. it's really quite versatile.

So today was the first warm day of spring and of course, I threw on my leather jacket (which I have been wearing since I got it about 3 years ago at topshop. Does anyone remember those ones that it seems everyone had when they first came out?) Well I head to starbucks and it was like leather jacket central. I go to a university with a lot of "trendy" people and I was just like 'oh no'. I'm not in favor of dropping an item you love because others wear it, but I think I might have to find a new jacket for the next little while. argh.

that's the pits! i think one of the only ways to beat the trends are either with going with something a lil off trend, or just holding out till the wave subsides. i see a lot of the motorcyle jackets with the silver metal zippers, collars and big snaps, like the one someone just posted pics of. that's what i like about my kate moss one. it is a leather jacket, but the cut is something kinda unique, less mainstream so i hope it beats out the trend that trickles down to PVC ones at H&M and target.

it's hard. There is a huge variety that people wear. I was kind of surprised actually, since I felt like I had been one of the few wearing one (possibly because I don't check weather reports before I leave the house and thus am left in a jacket that doesn't protect adequately against the weather). But today I'm not joking, there was a point where every other girl in starbucks was wearing one  Ah well.

oh my god yeah leather jackets are out everywhere.

i think its because h&m started carrying A LOT of them.

this winter they had one coat everybody had.i work in the mall and i would work and see at least 2 customers from that day wearing it. i had to coworkers who had it too.

ive seen the h&m biker jacket at least twice this week.

wow.
the only ones i ever see around here are either woman wearing their hubbies oversized ones or the uber trendy ones like the H&M version.

when every other person is starbucks has one on, i say 'go to coffee bean ad tea leaf" LOL.

that really sucks though. way to ruin the trend for someone who really loves it..

I had when you are torn between giving up something that you like just because everybody else is wearing it too. The people in the city where I live in are not very stylish but I'm glad that I sold all of my wet look leggins on ebay a while ago because girls over here actually started wearing them. And I bought the first pair in NYC last year when nobody here even knew what it was.

As for leather jackets, most girls wear the biker chic style ones. So I'm actually glad that I got mine from RO because it looks a little different. Mine doesn't have the zipper but buttons. It's still asymmetrical though.

I feel like most of you here, I love it but I can't go anywhere without spotting someone wearing it.. and the leather jacket feels like a trend EVERYONE picks up, not just ones wanting to be trendy

just bought a leather blazer though, which looks much better than it sounds, and I haven't seen many wear that which can be a good alternative until the biker look wears out

i go to a fashion school and i see them often but i dont care.i rock mines differently either with something super girly or go plain jane with tons of jewelry.

Has anyone purchased the leather jacket from angryyoungandpoor.com ? I am considering buying this one but I'm concerned about the quality. I don't know how great a leather jacket can be for $75!

Is it real leather? I think you're going to have to pay at leat $100, but they have goot so much cheaper now because everyone has and wants one!

I agree about asymetrical ones, in a nice soft leather with a big zipper.

for a decent (real) leather jacket, i would expect to pay at least $200-300, unless you find a major deal.... the ones from UO and h&m are almost all polyurethane, and they're more than $100
