Anyone got news on Carlos Barat or pete?

Hi guys, I just thought I'd warn you of a website that's being linked to pete recently. The 'Balachada' (or sumin, means good white or blonde, i.e good crack, in bangladeshi) website is a massive load of bum. It's been advertised on nme.com, in the guardian and on a few forums. and actually was in the 'style' supplement of sunday times 'going down'.

The guy that runs it is dodgy, his name is Paul Ro(binson). Whether he's a drug dealer or not anymore (there's been massive debates, we know he is but as I have no proof that I can shove in the computer right now, except people's words, I'm gonna pretend to be neutral) he is definately dodgy.

Recently he set up a gig, promising an amazing line up of 10+ top notch bands + babyshambles in a pub in the East End for 15quid. Loads of people turned up (even me against the better advice of me mates, who already knew his rep) just to be told there were no bands playing and by the end of the day (by which time I was already drunk elsewhere) it was obvious it was a scam. I'm not gonna go too much into it, but he took a lot of money off a lot of people and no one's seen it back, with questions usually being unanswered or, when there is the rare response, met with agression. There is also an 'anon' phonecall recorded somewhere on the computer with 'Paul Ro' laughing about the whole affair.

To give this guy your credit card details is MADNESS. Please PLEASE don't subscribe to the balachada site, whatever home-movies of pete are promised. If you want to hear the music, there is so much free all over the net and the rarer stuff is currently being uploaded onto a massive site someone has paid to set up so you guys don't have to subscribe to balachada.

It is such a bigger issue than this, which many more levels I'm just to lazy to post, you can find a lot of stuff on the ORIGINAL libertines forum www.network54.com/forum/188020. be warned they're not too friendly there and are quite cynical towards pete fans because alot of them have seen it all throughout the years but they are a very INTELLIGENT bunch, they know what they're talking about and it's not your average music forum.

Please don't give them your money, it WILL go to bad uses.

but i have stumbled across his persona via kate moss and i do think his music is really fantastic ... could someone explain this to me though?

I recommend you this site , Spirit of Albion ,instead.

The books of Albion are Pete's diaries. They contain his poems, stories,lots of pics, fans letters ect... Sometimes it's just ramblings ,sometimes it's touching, sometimes it's funny.

Apparently the site hosting them is currently down.

Yes i've heard of that too. That site is a disgrace.
I hope Pete's nothing to do with that.

has anyone got the picture of pete walking in front of a block of flats with england flags hanging out the window? that's where I used to live! it's adjacent to teesdale st, a site of albion rooms that I had no idea about because I was too young. Kicking meself now!

It's funny and cool that you lived in their neighbourhood.
I'll try to find that pic but I don't think I got it.

All the Libs stuff were so good.Their friendship,their dreams, the romanticism, the energy ect... that's why I love the books of Albion, even though there's a lot of sadness too with Pete slipping away.
Each time I listen to Up the Bracket i remember all the good things they represented.

John is pretty fit.

The band has never spoken ill of him.
I don't see why he should be blame because he started his own band.
I've read or seen nothing which made me think he was conceited.


Gary seems a cool cat to me.
Wise and funny in his interviews.The man's always smiling.
He's a wonderful drummer as well.
