The London Hair Salon Recommendation Thread

Top hairdresser in London

Hello everybody, I'm looking for a very good hairdresser in London...any idea ? At the moment I have long dark-blonde hair but I'm thinking about cutting it short like Anja Rubik or Freja Beha (also dying it brown), but that's a huge step for me, so I need a really, really good hairdresser who could give me some advice and also tell me if these styles won't suit me and then which instead because it really want to change ! oh and I don't want to spend more than 150 Pounds (well 200 maximum)... So if you have any idea, please, please tell me ! Thank u :flower:

Trevor Sorbie is very reputable, from what I've heard the hairdressers within Selfriges are very good, Toni and Guy is always a good option (but the quality of the cut depends on the stylist you get) the more you pay the better cut and colour you can get. However I say before you get your hair cut visit these places and get a feel for the people there, ask them to show you pictures of cuts and colours they have done before, have a long conversation and book a consultation, don't just make an appointment and turn up on the day, for cuts like Anja's and Freja's to look good you need to consider you face shape, size and so a lot of things go into a creating drastic style change. Best of luck and I hope it turns out great for you.

Here's a site with many reputable Hairdressers in London, hope you find one near you that you like:

aw thank you very much for the many information :) It's just that I'm not living in London but 2 hours away, so I just wanted to go for a day... But I think you're right, I shouldn't go there an say "lets go" without any conversation. hm..I'll see what I do but like I said thank you very much for your advice !

Well, done some researsch on the internet, and found some very good critics about the JLT Salon in London...any experiences or opinions about it ? thanks :)

Does anyone know of somewhere good in London that will colour hair at a somewhat cheaper price than usual? Or any schools, like the Vidal Sassoon one (theyre not doing colour until the 28th Nov)

Who is the best at taylor taylor? I'd make an appointment but don't know which one to choose? And besides taylor, what are other options to get a good haircut, for reasonable price? (not over 50p, as i'm not from london, but from country with much lower standard).

I've got an appointment tomorrow at Taylor Taylor with Federico V (Director), will tell you how it goes. I've been to Harrington's before which I wasn't that impressed with considering the awards they've received.

hey raskal!
do tell us how it went! am looking to do something crazy drastic to my hair whilst in london! :D hope it all goes well for you!

ah so glad to see taylor taylor getting mentioned in this thread again! I just had my hair cut there by Bradley this past Monday at the Cheshire St. location, not the flagship on Commercial St. (though i've had it cut there as well). Such a great experience as usual, I love it. It's very 'me' and thats what i love about getting cuts there. Hope it goes well Raskal though i'm sure it will.

yes i would. They handle a lot of different hair types. But i would phone them and ask about booking an appointment and ask who they would recommend for that hair type as i'm sure some are more comfortable than others.

Any ideas of a decent affordable salon for both cuts and colour?

I'd like to know this too! I'm a student so dont have hundreds to spare every 2 months, but it's annoying having to wait until I go home up north just to get my hair done for half the price. Mainly hoping for good highlights, but as my hair is naturally v. dark black I need some decent level of knowledge as it goes brassy/ginger very easily.

I'd just like to point out I went to Rush in Epsom (just outside of London) and they were terrible, I went back to get them to re-do it for free as I was unhappy and they just kept applying tons of dye and getting nowhere, for the amount I paid it was a bit of a joke. I know someone else who got highlights there and they looked really cheap and obvious  she also complained and got them re-done...

Has anyone had experience of getting their hair coloured by trainees? I hate going to the hairdressers as it is so I'm not sure whether I can trust them ha

Sorry for the essay! :flower:
