The most beautiful dress I have ever seen

This fall I saw really modern gowns from the collections of Helmut Lang and (two) from Tom Ford at Gucci. Now what separates them from the other gowns is the fact that they are not directly inspired by hotbed decades of inspirations such as the 40's or 50's. Or really made in the mood of the classic gown. They just look and feel modern with their details and designs joined with fabric.

I absolutely loved all four of those gowns, the ones from Helmut Lang are almost classical in the pleating and folding, but then there are those mesh inserts and pony hair details which make it so today. The Gucci ones are, as you said, modern, there's no visible time reference. Perhaps you could equate the fringe with the twenties, but the overall look of the gown is fresh.

I think Helmut's are a little more new to me. We've seen Gucci's bright satins a million times over. Junya did some great gowns, too, in the puffa jacket material.
