The Office (US Version)

“The Office” showrunner Greg Daniels is picketing his own Van Nuys set. Cast members – including Rainn Wilson, Jenna Fischer and John Krasinski as well as WGA members Steve Carell, B.J. Novak, Mindy Kaling and Paul Leiberstein – are not crossing the picket line.

Losing its cast shuts down NBC’s highest-rated sitcom a lot faster than a lot of other series, which are trying to put into production the last few scripts written before the strike.

An excerpt from a TVWeek story on the matter:

“We have non-writing producers on the show who are perfectly capable of doing any non-writing producing duties,” Mr. Daniels said. “They want me do to writing-producing and just pretend it’s producing. Every decision you make has a writing aspect to it. If they really just thought it was producing, they could just as easily get somebody else to do these tasks.”

^following that:
Nov. 6: From Dan Beals’ MySpace blog — “After a 7am call time with a 9am crew call, after standing around for 7 hours at our location waiting for the studio to make a decision once it was realized that Steve Carell would, once again, not be crossing the picket line of the Writer’s Guild picketers, our producer called the entire crew into the set of Michael’s condo and announced that The Office is officially shutting down.”

:o depression.

i just dont want a really long hiatus, i know they arent shutting it down forever

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!

Noo, I think I am going to cry! The Office is the only thing I look forward to all week :(

i had to add this b/c i'm in love with steve carell (along with the entire cast of the office, of course):
Latest news:
Nov. 7: ‘ … Steve Carell informed NBC he is unable to report to work because he is suffering from “enlarged balls.” Not just enlarged, but also brass ones.

i mean, at least they are supporting their writers...doesn't mean i'm happy about this, but i expect it from a close cast.

only two episodes left, today's and next weeks and then we'll have a huuuuuuuge break. they're talking about how this strike could go on for months and months and months
:( i'm seriously going to cry.

i support the writers 100%, but i wish it would not be on my fave show's expense.

^Aw, I love them.

I hope this all gets resolved soon, I need my fix of The Office. It's really one of the few shows that I look forward to watching

Memorable quotes ^_^

"Blacks do crack."

"IIIIIIIIII HAAAAAAAAAVE HEMMORRRRRRRRRRRRRROIDS!"

"I strategically place various pieces of weaponry throughout the office."

"I would remove your teeth and cut off your fingers so the police wouldn't recognize you. They would call me the Overkill Killer."

"I don't need fresh air. I have the freshest air around: I have AC."

I liked Dwight's file "Mr. A Knife"

edit: oh my god, and how could I forget Creed skipping around in a circle after blowing out the candles on his cake!

Ha ha ha! I didn't see that... too much static.

There wasn't a lot of Pam in this episode.
And I couldn't believe how everyone in the office was being so silly about the birthday thing.

Hilarious episode!!!! I loved the Jim/Michael bonding scene at the end :)

yeah, what was that about?
it was random
but it was really nice.

that's the thing about the office
they have very rare "nice" moments
but they happen so out of the blue it makes them that much sweeter.

the end of the episode was really bittersweet... i'm not sure if it's a good thing or bad thing that jims "becoming" michael.. wait.. it's def bad lol. people on the office forum were saying this season is a big character developement season for jim like how season 3 was for pam.

Jim looked horrified when Michael said he never saw himself working there for 10 years either
