Thank you! I will add it to my list on Goodreads for future reference. I didn't like Revolutionary Road much - I liked the idea behind it, so I guess it might have been the translation...

you've got good taste (ie highbrow) taste in books. did you know that morrissey rescued a woman at the strand bookstore. i thought morrissey's book was a bit of a washout. the passages about the headmaster are the best of all. the 100 pages about the court trial should have been shortened. :rolleyes:

the reason i've been avoiding Jorge Luis Borges is that he may be a bit too english centric. would you say so?

i tried to read Marguerite Duras's the lover, but i didnt like it. too many short sentences and fragments.

about Morrissey's autobiography, here is the same ! Was mostly interested in the childhood and debut parts.

i dont know much about about Jorge L. Borges, and I'm not sure to understand correctly what you're saying (english centric?). I've, weirdly, discovered him via Adolfo B. Casares (everybody should read The Invention of Morel ! One of the best 20th Century Fictions Ever), so I mostly read the works they did together under the Domeq pseudo. His book Pierre Menard is a must-read, though!
But seriously what is "english centric" ?

About Duras, I won't argue, because it might not end. But I do know what you're saying, and that's what I love about her (not mostly, but in part). You see it's not Proust or Zola (with endless sentences and descriptions - I like that, as well). She captures everything with few words and a complex plot, so it leaves me enough to picture the storyline in my head. And the way she tells stories is so complex, that I love it ! :lol:
* french snobism...... :lol:
To me Duras and Sarraute are the 2 French female authors, everybody should read. Love them ! Forget about Colette, George Sand, etc. Just read Duras and Sarraute.^_^
