January 18, 2006 -- IT doesn't sound possible, but Chanel managed to turn Reese Witherspoon into a fashion victim at the Golden Globes.

Witherspoon, who won Best Actress for "Walk the Line," wore a white-and-silver "vintage" Chanel dress - only to find out it was a mere 3 years old and that Kirsten Dunst wore the same frock to Globes after-parties back in 2003. Whoops!

Witherspoon's rep, Nancy Ryder, is said to be so angry at Chanel for giving her a recently recycled gown that she's vowing not to accept anything from Chanel again - or let her other clients, including Jennifer Lopez and Renée Zellweger, wear anything from the French couture house.

Ryder said, "Reese was told the dress was vintage. It was not. I'm not angry - just a little disappointed, but the big deal is Reese won the Golden Globe."

The Desperate Housewives - Teri Hatcher/Felicity Huffman (not bad, could've been better), Eva Longoria (should wear red more often, she looked amazing), Nicollette Sheridan (dress looked rather flattering), Marcia Cross (awful!! she disappointed me the most; she is so tall and statuesque she should be able to pull of anything, but she can't pull off that color!)

Natalie Portman ~ one of my favorite dresses all night; she looked SOOOO adorable, like a Winona Ryder; dress had really exquisite and delicate details! loved it!

Keira Knightley - her dress was simple, but it was also beautiful. Her hair/makeup - absolutely perfect. By far the most beautiful person at the show.

Evangeline Lilly ~ loved her dress.

Sarah Jessica Parker - the dress was beautiful, the hair was not

Reese Witherspoon - really disappointing! I was hoping for another taste of that lush taste she showed back when she wore that lacy black Valentino number to a GG a few years ago...but she showed up wearing something Kirsten Dunst already wore!

Zhang Ziyi - the dress was really beautifully designed, although I'm kind of on the fence about the color. :-)

Michelle Williams ~ a bit odd, but purple looks great on her.

Renee Zellwegger - boring

Emmy Rossum - the dress itself isn't too bad, but I wish it were in another color. The beige completely washed her out and was as boring as she is.

Mariah Carey - Not a disaster, but not a hit either.

Jessica Alba ~ really, really blah!

Penelope Cruz - shouldn't have used so much hair gel, but beside that, she looked very very pretty. That dress was quite stunning on her.

Charlize Theron ~ interesting choice, although I'm not really sure if I really like it or not; she, however, looked fantastic. She is always glowing in every picture I see of her.

Anne Hathaway ~ her dress was almost as bad as Marcia Cross's. .

Vanessa Paradis - truly a WTF moment. can't believe that was Chanel!

a couple of faves from 54(!) pages:
Ziyi was absolutely stunning; having a relatively new face to the carpet also helped her ‘wow’ factor.
Geena davis… erm ugh that dress annoyed me more than she herself does …mybe that first lady role will redeem her a bit..
Vanessa paradis : gorgeous! my only comment from all the pics seen was that the muscular arms and her little torso made her look a little like a young boy..
kiera, what a knock out – but then again she always is..
Rachel wise – everyone is bagging her dress but I think she looked so lovely – and her makeup makes her look so hot!
resse just radiated her bubbly personality through all the pics ive seen and it seems to be able to outshine any wardrobe choices she might have chosen. makes me care a little more (than mostly not) about who wins what.

I can't believe what a drama this dress is turning into. Reese looked better in it for a start but I'm sure Reese doesn't even care. She's not a diva.

I think that the rep is being a bit over the top. If I was super tall and skinny and Chanel offered me Cameron's mini from the globes as few years back I would take it and be grateful that I could wear it in the first place for free. I probably wouldn't wear it to the globes but some cool party.

I guess everyone has a different idea of what they think "vintage" is. 3 years ago to me isn't vintage, 30 years ago is.

looked great. Just a gorgeous face, stunning! But I don't get the crooning over her dress.

looked bad! I love this dress, I fell in love with it the second I saw it on Kirsten, but god Reese make it look cheap and frumpy.

I will never get the amount of worship that woman get. I can't remember ever seeing her get it right. She used to dress like a cut-out from US teen Vogue, and it was annoying beyond words. Now she is in a first degree country club phase who is so mind numbing I almost regret her fashion ubër victim days.

Mandy Moore:

The great surprise of the show for me. I normally don't like her but somehow I love her outfit. The black dress was... well... a black dress (even through the detailing is gorgeous), but I just loved the pairing of it with the pearl necklace. I can't really explained why but I thought it was so understated and elegant and fresh.

Boring dress but Kiera looks awesome. I'm quite appealed of her choosing someone as uninspiring as Valentino, but hey, she could wear a Kraft sheet and still stop the traffic, so why not.

That outfit is positively hideous but she gets a special mention for having the most gorgeous skin tone and texture I have ever seen.
