If I Didn't Look at the Credits, I'd Think Someone Else Designed This

The runway presentation (runway setup, makeup, hair, accessories...) may have given it away, but doesn't this gown look like it was lifted directly from a Oscar de la Renta show? But it was Julien MacDonald who actually made it. This is a thread to point out how one designer "borrows" (ahem) another designer's signature look to a point that you can't tell them apart. Paying homepage, referrencing, or just plain stealing? Let the pictures speak for themselves.

that's interesting. maybe we could post the 2 (or 3...) images next to each other?

thanks libertyrose!

i think we already kinda have a thread like this....outfit lookalikes.......i'll find it

The YSL pod looks like a tampon.
 Bizarre. Good eye with the Lacroix and the Hash, I was thinking the same. But it's all good. :D

This thread is different from "Outfit lookalikes" in that it asks for outfits that mimick another designers' signature style. With "Outfit lookalikes," you need two pictures for comparison, and the key elements needn't be another designer's signature. Anybody could've designed that. But on this thread, the outfits don't need to be "copies," they just resemble another designer's work in spirit.

The latest Gucci menswear collection was so Armani, from the cut of the suits and trousers to the styling....there were touches of Prada as well, but the Armani spirit definitly won out.
