The 'Outfit Look-Alikes' Thread

I really don't think a neckline constitutes "very similar" seeing as the rest of the dress is completely different.

One has an inverted v panel holding up a strapless bodice with lace insets and panels at the side. The other has an inverted v panel that goes into the skirt and separates two sides of an armored bustier with a rounded bra shaped neckline.

Are we going to start posting dresses next to each other because they both have plunging v necks now too?

i was reminded of this, Yohji Yamamoto from the mid 90's:

but i know they are very different! just reminded me of it..

(btw, does anyone know which season the Yohji cape is from?)

Manish Arora FW 09 and Balenciaga FW 08
Not the best, but the Manish piece kind of reminds me of the Balenciaga one...maybe it's just the white section on the bust area...

Derek Lam FW 08 vs. Ralph Lauren FW 09

The individual pieces hold up on their own but the styling and colours makes these looks very similar.

^^That's so funny, kiddo. It's like they're all pictures from the same collection...not only the clothes, but the setting, too!

Commuun FW09 vs Jil Sander SS08 is awful that is so obvious its not funny it is just blatant.

there are only so many necklines to chose from. its inevitable that designers will use the same kind.

maybe you didnt mean it that way, but i see lots of people who think of this thread more as a Designers Copying Designers Thread, than an Outfit Look-alikes one...
the two black dresses for instance, do LOOK similar at first sight, but that doesnt mean they were posted as evidence that one designer is knocking-off the other!

of course some "coincidences" here are suspicious, and certain designers have more "coincidences" than others... and those should be noted! ^_^
but my point is that not everything posted here should be taken as an accusation of plagiarism: and therefor the consequent reactions on the other side of the coin that go: "X was doing this ages before Y did it" or "neither are original ideas, both X and Y are a reference to this or that decade" wouldnt make sense in the context of the thread.
i dont know... i just thought we were getting a bit off topic, no?

(PS: i am picking this post as i could be doing it with any other.. it's just soemthing i had been seeing for some time and never quite found the moment to say  :flower:)

I'm just getting this small vibe from these pieces .. I think it's just the lengths and the colours that seem to match..?
The latter looks like a sort of messed version of the former?
