Though I don't think their music is the best, do they have great style IMO I like the hipster look! I love how they are always kissing each other, I'm sure they totally do it for attention, but still, it's so hot. They all look like big romantic softies though I'm sure with the millions of girls swooning for them they must have some huge egos, but whatever, they ARE incredibly goodlooking so I guess it's fair. Also Nikolei's hair reminds me of a storybook Prince Charming....haha.

sassandviolet, well according to my friend (she met up with Fab backstage at a concert a few years ago!!!!!!
), they're super sweet (well Fab), and they care for there fans, so according to her, they don't have huge egos. And they always come off as extremely cool and nice guys in interviews! I wouldn't go as far as saying they are extremely good looking, I mean, if I saw someone like Julian or Albert (Fabrizio and Nick Valensi don't coun't because they seriously are good looking 
, as well as Nikolai who is not too good looking IMO) would def come off as unattractive, but since they're so darn cool, they're both hot anyways!

supposedly nick V is in a serious committed relationship with amanda de cadenet.
jules was engaged to a girl but like most of his relationships it was doomed by his perpetual immaturities.
albert was seeing a gf for a long time that he was always with but I do not know their status now.
fab & drew are known to be engaged & nearing marriage.
why do many people not like room on fire? I like that cd nearly as much as is this it & I am more likely to play it & still like it while ITI I & everyone one else played so much for so long that I am tired of it. why is ROF disliked? its as good as ITI.

Julian was said to be dating and it was rumoured.. although not true (from what i hear) to have married Juliet.
With the looks thing... i think Julian was very good looking in the early days, a sparkle in his eye
and an attitude but also a bit of insecurity - although lately he has put on some weight and masacred his hair. Ive also read that Albert is incredibly charistmatic, the friendliest (or maybe more confident because they seems quite insecure sometimes which could come across as being rude) and from people who have met him he is very good looking and makes a huge impact.. which i think is a combination of all this qualities.
I think with ROF theres heaps of reasons why the album wasn't as appealing (i think its great)
1) certain people who loved Is This it couldnt take the change.. although sounds similar, if your know what i mean?
2) the hype around Is This it caused a bit of a stir.. they were in NME before they had even released a single. Certain "people" weren't happy about it all and i think a lot of people wanted ROF to be a let down so that it could be proved that The Strokes were just yet another marketed band. so although it wasnt a let down i think a lot of magazines knew what their review of ROF might be like before it was released. Ok so i know i might be crazy and maybe ive watched a few to many conspiracy movies.. but i just have a feeling from talking to people.
3) a lot of people just cant appreciate their music fullstop... because they dont know how hard they've worked (not like i literally do but from what ive read) and how much it means to them and how you can hear that in their music..in the passion in the guitar and in Julians voice.. theres always a kind of yearning which is passed on . They just listen to it from the outside.. and i think to appreciate strokes music you have to know a bit about them as people

This I def. agree with. Those who know what the band members are like, not through knowing them personally, of course, but by reading/watching lots of their interviews and seeing how they are with each other makes you like the music more. ROF is as great as Is This It, and I believe some of your theories as to why it wasn't as well-received are correct. Plus, it helps if you know the back story of how the band came together and how hard they worked to get noticed. I think it's easier to really love the music when the band member's personalities are so appealing, not to detract from how fab their music is on its own though.
