The Weight-Lifting and anything Weights-related Thread

^ Aren't press-ups considered weight-lifting, Prince?

I do agree with you, though, that running tones the legs. When I'm running or biking, I don't lift the lower body. But once the winter comes, and I can't get outdoors, I left lower body.

So if I run outdoors, I can skip weight training on the legs? I do find that my muscles get really nicely worked out after a long running session.

^ kare2711, my suggestion would be to skip the weight training if you're running. Running will tone your legs up nicely without needing the weights. Plus, I've found if I try to do both at the same time, my legs are really tired and it ends up not building muscle because you're not giving them enough time to recover. That's using your legs for a LOT of things, and I think one or the other is beyond suitable. :flower:

I find press-ups and running do me far more good than any amount of weights or machines (which I never can be bothered with).

what are press ups? are they like a push up or a bench press?

They're similar to a push up except the whole body is lifted using the upper-body. Knees must be kept up, only hands and feet may touch the floor.

I do light weights... hmmm.. is light weights the same as free weights?

^ More than likely. If you're lifting without the help of a machine. :)
